I believe the 836 is single mode as well. I have one coming in the mail now so will confirm this when it arrives, from what I've seen posted though it's a very small improvement over the 826 in power. I hear the bdr-209 blu ray diode has excellent divergence.

Isn't there already a bunch of builders here that essentially already do this?

See if a lpc-826 is tight enough, I've been told it's the lowest divergence diode that's readily available. My pl520 also is good. Can see dot on clouds with both my lpc-826 and pl520 but not my pl450b. Since pl450b is supposed to be just above 1mrad I would bet the pl520 and lpc are both sub mrad.

I guess I need to learn how to make my own Dpss laser now. How hard can it be lol.

You might get that from a lpc-826. Mine has a noticeably better divergence than my pl450b which is supposed to be 1mrad or so.

I think to make any money at this you are going to have to do alot more than put together pre assembled parts. As there is to much competition to do it half assed. As in if you plan to: 1. Buy host heatsink already plug and burn ready. 2. Buy diode from DTR or whoever mounted in module...

Ive used Krytox for years on my flashlights and it is a great lube and also stops oxidization. I think pretty much any lube will stop oxidization as it will coat the threads and stop air from coming in contact with the host material.

So I tested with a acrylic and G-2 and 3 element. As I suspected none beat the above posted powers. So those numbers above are indeed best case scenario. If anyone finds a real source for a LPC-840 please let me know.

I agree we are done with these particular diodes from this seller but I am not convinced this is an authentic lpc 840 diode, as I said it lacks the logo. As for the lens I have only tested it with my g2 knock off, it's the one from Paul's original source for the group buy before the joker took...

You are going to have an issue finding a diode that will turn out 500mw as well as 10mw. If you do though make sure and post back im interested in this.

I was thinking the same thing. OP i would not run those at 1.5 amps seems high from what i have seen people running them at.
