Some pics of a beautiful place, Brazil

@ Things: I can attest to that! Spent 3 months around Cairns, Proserpine, Airlie Beach, etc. Living out on the Whitsunday islands. GORGEOUS bit of country out there. Just don't pitch your tent under a fruit tree, the damn bats rain on you all night.... What a mess :(

Re: Quotation from company Make up a company. I can start a new business under whatever name I choose, TODAY. As long as the company name/number isn't "claimed" (inc., Ltd., etc.) then you are fine. If they ask for your letterhead or whatever, just make one. If your business starts to make any...

All the stuff your local police confiscated from you.

He got his laser back, I hope he got a bit of justice for his trouble though.

    1st 445nm build... ideas?

I prefer the Flex, more power turned all the way up. The fact that it is a buck driver as well as boost gives you more options for battery/host options as well. The microboost is better for a 405 because it will supply sufficient voltage.

One second glue bad for health?

*The worst part is that it ruined a perfectly good pair of jeans* :(

    Somewhere over the rainbow...

Damn dude, great collection you have there. The yellow is gorgeous, amazing brightness for ~80mW

Re: Some pics of beautiful places, Brazil Hells bells bro, wish I was in your shoes! Everything is very white and covered in ice over here. Hope you had a good trip!

One second glue bad for health?

Crazy glue and denim are a BAD combination. Gets hot and releases a LOT of fumes. I am actually wearing a pair of jeans that got a drop of glue on them a few years ago

    1st 445nm build... ideas?

Most newbies have killed at least one diode (myself included), tell the missus that they are worth $80 and when you come in under budget everyone is happy! lol jk There are no problems powering the diode like you are talking about but why not just wire it up so that you use different...

My 1st build total failure.....so now I have this...

Good for you, I have found that generally DIY laser enthusiasts are better about safety because they understand how lasers work a bit better and actually figure out just how much power these things are consuming (and emitting). Remember to double check your connections, use a test load and watch...

My 1st build total failure.....so now I have this...

This hobby can cost a LOT if you let it. I think I am down by almost $1000 between the lasers and some other electronic projects I have started since august. That isn't including tools either :(

Well that sucks, hope it wasn't too expensive. What is the return policy?

My 1st build total failure.....so now I have this...

Did it come from a sf-bw512 sled? If so, that is the red from it, the other diode (the bigger "round" one) is the 405 diode. Apparently that red is pretty powerful (~300mW) but is a PITA to mount

Is there any readings he can take from the legs of the lm317 to verify the pinout?

The Hardest thing I have ever had to in my Life

Sorry to hear you are hurtin' bro, true words about getting others to quit. I guilt tripped my old man into quitting almost 7 years ago. I asked him why he smoked and he said "because I like it" I basically told him " I'm really gonna miss you" and walked away. 2 weeks later he quit, He gained a...

    Do I need glasses?

I caught a reflection from a 1.6W 445 a few day ago. Of course I had my sexy sunnies on and I didn't hardly notice it still kinda spooked me. Glad I didn't cheap out on the protection  BB is bang on when he says that accidents happen even when you plan your actions. I caught this...

    $7/gallon for "regular" (89Oct)!!!

Very true, I think steel crystallizes and becomes brittle at -37*C I can only speak from experience here but I haven't had too many troubles in the cold. The newer honda rubicon quads with automatic transmisions SUUUUCK in cold weather though. No choke, no primer, only and "enrichener" and they...

    $7/gallon for "regular" (89Oct)!!!

I have lived in weather as low as -56*C You have to have acclimated to it for a while to function properly and you don't go out and take a deep breath unless you want your lungs to freeze. I have also started my pickup in it, a couple of quads, sportbike, etc. It's not great for an engine but if...

    Too good to be true?

Really doubt you will get a true 1W green for less than ~3 grand. The tech is improving all the time but it might take a while to get that inexpensive ;)
