    Need help with bench PS

I just realized pin 7 of U4 wasn't connected to Vout of the 317. I'll fix this in a sec and see what happens. ******************************* Finally, it works now! Woo! What a stupid mistake. I hate myself. But hey, they say the way to learning electronics is by failing. Sounds reasonable...

    Gaypal "PAD" system?

Perhaps. Willing to try it out? :p But then you'd be banned

    Need help with bench PS

No time to take pics of the setup right now. I think its R12 and R13 that is causing the low resistance between out and gnd, no?

    Visibility of 30mW Beam

30mW of 532nm will be visible but nothing impressive. It also depends on the atmospheric conditions. My 80mw will look something like a 150-200mW on a humid night and other times it is hard to see. I don't have a 473 so I can't compare the two. So I were to see a 30mW green beam, I would be...

    Need help with bench PS

I'll post pics when I find some time later or maybe tonight. Expect it to be messy.

    Need help with bench PS

I've corrected the schematic in the OP and changed R9 down to 2.2K. All voltages seem fine. The main rectifier puts out 26.5V. The two voltage regulators also do their job. U1 also seems fine. The 1.25V reference is still there. The problem was that a slight turn of the current adjust pot...

    Need help with bench PS

Yes, another error on the schematic. In the pcb I made, the cathode of D6 is connected to out and the anode to pin 8 on U1 just like in the original schematic. I'll check the voltages after I get home and revise the schematic.

What is the wavelength of true brown?

The wavelength must be. . .POOPnm?

    Tools for SMD soldering?

I've tried SMD soldering (down to 0402!) and tweezers are a must for me. Tacky flux also helps. Fine desoldering wick will also come in handy.

Ah, dammit. The net beside it got too close. Its actually not connected. Thanks for the heads-up. Time to edit again. *Done

    Need help with bench PS

I've edited the schematic in the OP. Please tell me where I should start in troubleshooting the circuit. Here is what I know so far: *The rectifier section and the two regulators are still working fine *All electrolytic caps and the tantalum are in the correct polarity *All the diodes are also...

    Holy thick wires, Batman!

    Need help with bench PS

Didn't see all those errors. I'm sleepy now and I made that schematic in a hurry. The out pin of the 317 is actually connected to output in the pcb I made and R4 is 680 ohms. Edit: there are also bypass caps on the op amp that I forgot to include. Gotta sleep now:tired:

    Need help with bench PS

Today, I was finally able to put together the bench power supply I've been building. But yes, it failed. I'll explain what happened below but here is the schematic of the circuit. Its based on the circuit on the LM317 datasheet with some modifications. When I turned it on for the first time...

    Anyone use Keeppower 18350s?

No experience with those batteries but you could have bought the Kinoko brand ones instead. They're cheaper and they perform very well. Here is a very good site to look for battery, chargers, flashlight tests and reviews: Test of Kinoko IMR18350 850mAh (Gray)

    (Limited) FS: 5300mAh Li-ion cells

Not too bad. I've checked the datasheet and its pretty close.

    Soldering Iron wanted!

So yeah, at least get one of those. :p

You're welcome. Let me know their real capacity afterwards. +Rep when I can :)

    [SOLVED]0.34A but i bougth it for 1,2A?

Re: [solved] Oh wow.. a dead driver arrived? Should not be a problem. I have one of those drivers that also has a chipped inductor (spray? is it a translation fail?) and it runs fine.
