    Pulsed Laser Circuit created

When a LM317 configured to current mode has an open circuit at the load, the output voltage rises pretty close to its input voltage. That's what is likely to happen in the "off-cycle" with this circuit when transistor BC337 is "off". Subject to the switching speed of the transistor and the...

Just opened my can, now what should I do?

    Order tracking

Do you not get a pull-down box to select the country destination? I get one for Canada, and all have to do is past in the Tracking Number in the Canada Post Tracking page that comes up. Does your countries postal system allow tracking?

    Toasted my first diode.

Without current touching is fine. With current, you have to take in to account the transient response of the voltage regulator. It takes some time for the circuit to recover from sudden changes in the load (such as momentarily shorting the LD leads). During the recovery time, the voltage/current...

Open Can with TEC (20' Match Light Video pg. 5)

Re: Open Can with TEC You can try testing it. Unplug and set the whole assembly aside to let it reach a stable temperature. Check the temperature at various surfaces to see if your meter reads the same for various surfaces. You can also do this with the raw materials instead of your assembly -...

Open Can with TEC (20' Match Light Video pg. 5)

Re: Open Can with TEC Try putting some black electrical tape on the items you are measuring (and let it come up to temperature). The emissivity of different material finishes yield significantly different results. Bare metals will read low. Interestingly, many of the IR cameras are calibrated...

    Divergence measurements - question

Made it back to Toronto this weekend and took a couple of beam pics. One is of the laser on the stack and the other is on another stack that can been seen under rge "Dr" of "Coronation Dr" in the pic above.  Not too bad from a DX30 (running on a single 10440 Li-ion).  Click on the pic for a...

    DX 5mW keychain green (3xLR44) mini-review

That's great to know! Perhaps I will lower the drive current when I use the 10180.

    30mW laser modding

rog, they are a fair bit smaller. The CR123s will not fit. I purchased a bunch of CR2s at a Dollar store - it was a steal! I am waiting for them to get CR123s.

    30mW laser modding

Quoting myself. :) See this thread for some more info. The thread is about the Kai 50 but I added comments on teh DX 30 part way through. http://www.laserpointerforums.com/forums/YaBB.pl?num=1193766153;start=all

    DX 5mW keychain green (3xLR44) mini-review

Mike, I am hoping the 10180 Li-ions I have will provide a better run-time. They are only supposed to be 90mAh, so the draw will be slightly over 2C. The AG13s (LR44s) seem to come in a range of 140-175mAh, however, that capacity is measured at a fraction of a mA. I'm hoping the Li-ion will fare...

    DX 5mW keychain green (3xLR44) mini-review

So if you were wondering what's inside a DX 5mW 3xLR44 green laserpointer, wonder no more. This thing draws about 220mA on fresh LR44s (AG13). That kills the batteries in no time.   I opened it by: 1. first unscrewing the rounded top end. 2. I used a small metal rod in my drill press to push...

broken pin on blu ray diode

No problem. This link shows how I removed the stress from the pins. Cheers, http://www.laserpointerforums.com/forums/YaBB.pl?num=1194303946

broken pin on blu ray diode

See post #13 in the thread below. http://www.laserpointerforums.com/forums/YaBB.pl?num=1189268933/all-0 For the future, consider a method for removing the stress from the pins (smaller, more flexible wire, anchor the wire, and leave the flexible circuit board on the LD).

    30mW laser modding

My guess by thread title and the pic is that it's a Kaidomain or DX (CR2 powered) laser. There's not enough info to go by, so it will be hard for anyone to offer any intelligent suggestions. You may, however, receive many sarcastic suggestions until you provide more detail. :)

DX 10mw Keychain Green Laser Review

I got the same measurement off my 5mW. 220mA draw from a 138mAh battery. The 138mAh is probably at a draw of 14mA or so (C/10). At 220mA draw (1.6C), its capacity is probably only in the 10s of mAh.

DX 10mw Keychain Green Laser Review

I just received the 5mW version of this (I didn't want it too bright when used for presentations). I have a couple of AW's (from CPF) Li-ion batteries (size 10180) on the way that I hope I can make fit. These are slightly smaller in diameter than the AG13s (10 vs 11 mm) and slightly longer (18...

    my new mighty diy red!

I just checked it out as well.  WOW!  I hope only his thumbnail loads and not the whole image each time.   Stackingmount, you may want to check that out, otherwise, it may be costing LPF a lot of bandwidth.

I have to say I'm with xanatos on this one.
