    fogger + glycerin = acrolein??

If you mix your glycerin with water (so that there is much more water than glycerin) it won't be getting much over 100 deg C. If you smell something acrid and your eyes nose and throat get irritated then you have probably made some acrolein and should probably air out your house.

Looking for information on how to build own lens assembly.

It's just semantics, but for lens assemblies the word "group" is sometimes used to refer to multiple elements which are cemented together like an achro doublet. So this is a 2 group, 3 element lens. Also, IIRC there have been multiple versions of the particular lens you are using, and some...

Diodes in Series misbehaving - need electrical help!

What is your dummy load? How are you measuring the current both for dummy load and series LD?

Diodes in Series misbehaving - need electrical help!

Maybe I'm missing something, but why isn't Vout connected to your load? It looks like the diodes are connected directly across the battery in parallel with what is effectively a 20micF cap and your LT1185. This will load the batteries in some way as to drop the voltage (the undrawn series...

Correct me if I am wrong but...

@OP. I don't think there is any indication that this was rigged. There is a very reasonable probability that someone will get 15 losses in a row on a 50/50 game. If you play 2^15 (32,768) times, then you are just as likely as not to have experienced a 15-in-a-row loss one of those times...

Thermal paste between a diode module an heatsink?

"Paste" sounds to me like an adhesive and makes me think thermal epoxy (I know people use all sorts of names for thermal compound). I doubt that is what you are referring to here. Just wanted to make sure you understand the difference and don't accidentally glue your module into the heatsink...

    A small rant

That's a reason to build in fast, insured shipping to your pricing. If you tell everyone the shipping is free and include it in the price, they all compliment your quick shipments. Now I realize that might not be practical in a competitive environment where others advertise the bare bones...

    CLOSED: 4.5W 638nm Laser Diode

Re: Feeler: 4.5W 638nm C-mount Information/Giveaway I'm interested in participating. Do we have a data sheet on this thing, or going in blind?

25$ new broadband AR PBS cubes from Newport

Dang - I will have to check my order again. I had some other things on it is well.

New Nitecore "Digicharger" digital battery chargers

Do these add any capability beyond LiFePO4 (through manual selection)? I guess the fancy display might be helpful for something, but unless these are almost the same price, I'll stick with my trusty I2. Still, good to be aware of the new stuff coming out.

My Rainbow -- Post Pic's of Yours

@danoz7 So, in general, I get the impression that feeding answers to questions easily answered using the search function is frowned upon, but I don't want you to think people here are unwilling to help.:shhh: If you search for "how to post pictures" there will be some more useful results...

    Aquarius II | NDB7675

I really liked this host when I saw your earlier post about it - the brushed look reminds of SS or titanium, and even more now that the build is done. The LED button looks like almost a perfect match to the beam in that first beamshot. Nicely done.

    EagleTac D25C PLP520-B1

Ah yes! I'm glad Marco Polo resurrected this since I missed seeing it. I am a huge fan of tight compact builds and this one looks very nice. I would also like to see what you've done for the heatsink. Good job man.

    My 6W 445nm Laser!!!

This is one of the new 445 diodes, not a 405. And since it hasn't been LPM'ed the 6W is probably a very optimistic estimate. But I am still suitably impressed. Before taking a several year break from the hobby (got married and had 4 kids), this kind of power from a diode was unthinkable...

25$ new broadband AR PBS cubes from Newport

Yes, those surplus ones look nice for those wanting something bigger. Surplus shed always seems to have some too, as opposed to the short term deal in the OP. +rep to crazyspaz.

    445nm help

IIRC the flat part of the g2 lens should be very close to the back of the barrel. I think you might have the lens backward - just from seeing where the flat-head notch is. This is actually a somewhat easy mistake to make, so you wouldn't be the first. Are you sure it is facing the right way...

Would it be safe to look at 1.6W dot?

While observing the dot on a wall 15 feet away might not cause any damage, it is still not what I would call safe. Looking around the forums a bit you will see that people have had several close calls where the dot momentarily hit a specular surface, or the laser moved in an unexpected way that...

    need help for K-898G

I would try contacting the manufacturer or supplier of the software to get support with this issue. Many companies will replace missing or damaged software free of charge.

25$ new broadband AR PBS cubes from Newport

There are several threads that can shed some light on the issue. The most reliable way to combine 2 identical lasers would be to have them rotated 90 degrees from each other and pass the collimated beams into a PBS cube. See this thread for example: Good source for PBS cubes. Or this one: pbs...

25$ new broadband AR PBS cubes from Newport

If you feed a single beam into a polarizing beam splitter, you get 2 oppositely polarized beams out. If you feed 2 oppositely polarized beams into a pbs, you get a single beam with both polarizations out. It's just using it in reverse. I don't know of any way to use a half silvered mirror type...
