    Panel meter - common ground

I'm thinking about getting that meter with the built in shunt. Can I use it without an isolated supply? Here is my setup:

    $55 515nm 30mW Osram

That looks like somewhere 480nm to me. @Ped - double post ;)

    Killed my C6, ugh :(

My hand doesn't really shake when soldering and I'm happy with it. Also, I only use a lens spring so that I don't have to constantly replace the teflon and there is no risk of it getting into the diode window.

    WTB 638nm 5mW pointer.

I suggest you try the lower end of the spectrum since you already have one in the red range although 5mW of 405 will not be very impressive.

    WTB 638nm 5mW pointer.

You already have a 635 pointer. Both are very close to each other and the color difference would be hard to tell. What makes you want a 638? Just asking.

    Panel meter - common ground

Yeah, but I just want to know if somebody has one of these meters so that I could know the resistance before I buy one. Thread changed.

    Panel meter - common ground

Edit: Topic changed. Okay, so I still have not finished building my CC/CV PSU (thanks to djQUAN for a lot of help) because of some circumstances. Anyway, I've ditched my plan of getting a particular panel meter and just go cheapo. I'm looking at this ammeter. It says that it needs an...

    Soldering Iron wanted!

Same here, 350C for most pcb work and 400C on big joints. After finally having a temp controlled station, it would take a lot of convincing to get me to use those uncontrolled cheapo irons. I will also be getting an FX-600 so that I could have something that I could carry around and still is...

Might have made a huge mistake...

Not trying to be a dick but I find it ironic that you weren't practicing what you preach.

    Soldering Iron wanted!

Just received my soldering station from HK. It took 9 days via EMS. I'll do a quick overview on this thing. Excuse the not-so-good pics. Everything out of the box. The base unit is sturdy enough. The iron holder feels very cheap. Its mostly made out of plastic except the sponge holder which is...

Re: Pioneer 16X BDR-209BK I assume a G lens was used in this test? edit: yep...I didn't read

Whoops. I think I should delete it just in case. I seem to be immune to light induced seizures.

    Soldering Iron wanted!

I find it easy to make solder bridges in protoboards. Its in the technique on how you make the solder on two pads join together. I can't really explain how I do it but it just works :p I've moved from wet sponge to the brass wire thing. It cleans better and it doesn't cause thermal shock to the...

DIY green laser in a C6 host

Yes. You may need to remove the spring to make some room for the contact board.

DIY green laser in a C6 host

I have no idea on the lens. As far as I know, and experienced, the entire host is anodized except for the pill and the threads so the heatsink is electrically isolated. You need to use a contact board if you want it to be case negative. You have to find the positive pin of the diode and...

    Can I have a little bit too? :p :D

    Soldering Iron wanted!

I just acquired a spool of Alpha Telecore Plus 63/37 solder and its a little less than a quarter pound left but this will last a long time. It expired back in '09 but the flux is still very good. @Jmillerdoc - How many grams are in a foot of the cardas quad?

    Soldering Iron wanted!

Thanks for the link. These all seem to be top notch solders so I guess the brand shouldn't matter much. But if you had to choose a brand, which one would it be?
