What is the Best Laser Under $60?

To quote paul1598419, "I would stay away from all gattling style lasers as they are all crap, but I have a Thor H dual power that isn't bad at all." Blue lasers at these powers are generally brighter then green 532nm pointers and can burn thing, but have worse beam quality. If you are serious...

Are the chinese blue lasers in any way a bad idea?

Since you already own one, you will probably want to pick up a glass lens for it (they often come with plastic ones, which will melt) and some safety glasses (its hundreds of times more powerful then what is considered safe). Eagle pair makes the best glasses...

    DVD Laser diode

Its a bit late to do this now, but I heard that its better to leave the diode in the sled for odd shapes like these. Its already heatsynced and has some focusing optics set up.

    NUGM03 1W 525nm Laser Diode

Have these been around long enough for anyone to figure out how de-canning effects them? I'd like to stick a DTR-G-8 or two element lens in front of one, but not if it severely shortens its lifespan. They are a bit too expensive for me to count them as consumables. Edit: To contribute a bit of...

    PL-E mini 520 leaking light?

High-power diodes tend to look like that. They sacrifice beam quality for raw power, and one axis of the output will have a much higher divergence then the other.

Used ~750mw green laser, $100-$150 https://www.ebay.com/itm/153555621730 Used 700mw 638nm laser, $50-$75 https://www.ebay.com/itm/153555806463 These seem like good deals. As expected, they popped up right after I bought parts for builds with the same wavelengths and output powers.

    DTR G8 lens

Odd question: Are these always darkly colored, or do they sometimes have the standard brass look?

I'm interested in picking one of these up. Should I send you a PM about it?

For Sale!!! Laser host with many option heatsink

Are these for 12mm modules? And is there enough room between the heatsink and driver pill to fit a driver?

Laser beam brightness vs wavelength: Seeking personal experiences

I thought I did make an intro post? And I'm not too interested in borrowing equipment. It seems like it would be less of a hassle to just save up for a while and buy one outright. And on the original topic, I made this to try and get more accurate values. key: r = relative beam brightness of...

Laser beam brightness vs wavelength: Seeking personal experiences

All the counterpoints are fair, I suppose this problem would have been solved a while ago if it was simple. I would still still appreciate personal anecdotes though, as I won't have the required measurement tools or a full range of wavelengths and powers for quite some time. Good LPMs cost a...

Laser beam brightness vs wavelength: Seeking personal experiences

I've been using the relative laser brightness calculator to figure out how beams at different wavelengths compare, but I've started to have some doubts about its accuracy. It says that 100-200mw of 650-660nm red should equal 5mw of 532nm green (for me, the red is much dimmer), and that a 50mw...

    Hello from the west

I'm a hobbyist that has had a passing interest in lasers for several years. I've visited this website in the past, and gotten some good information out of it, but I never got around to making an account until now. I got interested in lasers the same way I image most do, picking up some standard...

I'm not sure if this is a spectacular deal, but they seem like reliable lasers for the price. www.ebay.com/itm//323769578850 I believe they are either taken from or are replacement parts for this ($600?) laser system. Wavelength: 532nm Power output: 40mw Divergence: <2mrad
