AMC7135 blues. (Gazoo, need your assistance)

What I have marked is good. Note the text that indicates the orange dotted line goes to the other side of the board. The 2 little holes you mentioned are electrically the same as the center spot on the back (the holes are "vias" that connect one side of the board to the other). The same...

    I need someone with patience

As kenom has already mentioned. If you are patient, you can go read through the threads in the Experiments and Mods section. Not only will you find the information you are looking for but a lot of other great stuff as well.

Using a DC/DC converter to power the laser

So you want someone else to pay for the shipping?

Blu-Ray 6x plus UVA LEDs fluorescense

What's nice about this wavelength is that it seems to focus to a really small dot and that many materials seem to absorb much of the energy rather than reflect it. This translates into great burning ability. I burned a line onto a piece of bare SPF 2x4 with an output of ~70mW. The wood started...

BLuRay mod #2.  1xAA boost circuit.

Make sure you provide a power input reality check. This may get a little complex. It depends on how it maintains regulation. To put out 350mA at 5V (1.75 Watts) at an efficiency of say 70%, you would need to supply 2.5Watts. An alkaline will not last long at that power draw. A single NiMH...

BLuRay mod #2.  1xAA boost circuit.

This is definitely a much simpler circuit. It looks like a basic 5V boost controller. Key components (top mark/code): switcher chip - STVD transistor - 2300 Schottky diode - SS14 Not many options to make any mods - the feedback goes right to the switcher chip so it's probably a fixed voltage.

List of members with power meters

If that's the case, there really isn't much different between your amp board and kenom's wrt accuracy. Certainly, if one was to be "disqualified" from this thread due to non-calibration, then the other would as well. Even calibrating them to another commercial meter would only get them to the...

List of members with power meters

Curious here.  Exactly what amp board did kenom use?  I searched and could not find information on it.  Anyone have any pics of the guts of it? BTW, the biggest source of error may be the DPMs.  Mine was not very accurate until I calibrated it.

    What determines the laser's power?

The OP pointed out a single "difference" on the two boards. The component referenced is a capacitor not a diode and they are the same value (10uF). That is what I pointed out. What are you referring to?

BLuRay mod #2.  1xAA boost circuit.

It's below the critical angle .  <--------- Click the link. I focused the Bluray to a narrow point.

Post a macro shot of the driver board. You never know...

Cool picture time.  Here's a shot of my Bluray's beam bouncing around inside my watch crystal.  Entry from the right, exit on the left.

    Miloš Custom Blu-Ray 25mW Laser

Re: Milos Custom Blu-Ray 25mW Laser For those curious on the current to the little freak 78mW PS3 BR, I posed an update in this thread.

BLuRay mod #2.  1xAA boost circuit.

OK, my curiosity got the better of me and I had to find out what current the second BR LD was running at. Now, before I do that, I just want to say that the output at 70-80 was amazing. It would actually burn wood (bare pine). It would light a match instantaneously. OK, here it is (insert...

AMC7135 blues. (Gazoo, need your assistance)

Didn't you use a pot as your resistance? They are usually not rated for a very high power dissipation. I'm not surprised that it smoked. Remember that you cannot ignore any elements in the circuit. If something is connected in parallel the current will settle on a ratio between the elements...

AMC7135 blues. (Gazoo, need your assistance)

The term "sense" is used when something is being used for feedback. It tells you something about what is happening in a part of the circuit.  Most feedback schemes require a feedback voltage.  To convert the current to a voltage, a resistance is put in the circuit and the voltage drop across...

    Kaidomain 50mW CR2 - inital review

I have one that does that. On mine, the cause was due to an imperfection on the lens. The beam is not centered on the lens so when I changed focus a bit the imperfection moved out of the beam area.

    What determines the laser's power?

Hmmm... No one's picked this up yet... They are not diodes. They are capacitors and they are the same value: 10uF.

Very good reminder about the ground - that could be an issue for a lot of people. I use both methods for measuring current. The reason I didn't mention it in this thread is that many folks on the board do not know when it is OK to use this method as well as the effects of using the different...
