Which one of these performs better?

Because I don't know if the two options are actually equivalent. The advantages and disadvantages I listed are those that I know will be present, but I also want to know if the two solutions have differences I don't know about. For example, if one of them has plastic lenses and/or an additional...

Which one of these performs better?

I was considering getting a 445nm laser that I'm mainly going to use to burn stuff. I can't decide between these two options. Option 1: buying a complete product. Advantages: no hassle in putting it together, ready to use. Disadvantages: higher price than an equivalent laser built from...

Has anyone put a 445nm diode into a Star Trek 2009 phaser?

I've seen videos of Blu-Ray diodes put into Star Trek 2009 phasers, but what about 445nm diodes? Has anyone done that? Does the Playmates toy have enough room inside for the driver and the batteries? And how wide is this gap?

USAF to use "ray guns" for..... weed control.

That picture doesn't show a "weed terminating gun". It shows a Personnel Halting and Stimulation Response (PHaSR) rifle. See Personnel Halting and Stimulation Response rifle - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia . EDIT: Oops, I didn't read the part in the first message that says the same thing.

What makes these two O-Like lasers different?

The first: Tactical 1.2W blue 445nm laser The second: Tactical Real 1W 445nm Blue laser Both lasers have the same set of pictures, but one supposedly emits ">1.1W" and the other one ">900mW". They both use the same battery. So what makes one more powerful than the other?

    I don't order from O-like.

"Here" as in... where? EDIT: Back to the topic, right now I can't even access the site. I tried a traceroute on www.o-like.com and it says it cannot resolve the name of the destination system.

    O-like blu-ray 400mW 405nm Laser

I was just about to open a topic about this laser. I have some questions. 1) How does it perform? O-Like claims 400 mW, has anyone measured its output? 2) I see it's waterproof, and I remember several posts criticizing waterproof lasers because they have an additional lens that reduces their...

    Blue lasers can cause cancer?

All of us self-respecting males do.

    O-Like Now Stocking 445nm

Thanks. It looks rather time consuming, how you can't focus it in "real time" while the beam is on, but you have to turn the beam off, tweak the focus, see if the beam is focussed the way you want it, turn it off again, tweak the focus again... until the proper focal distance is achieved. I...

Could you post a picture of the collimating lens?

    O-Like Now Stocking 445nm

    1) It says that it's focusable, but how do you actually focus the beam? Do you use a tool (what?) to turn the inner disk of the host? 2) can it be connected to batteries? 3) flecom: why did you replace the driver?

Confirmation of cancer causing properties for 445nm please

I have an idea. Let's spread the rumor that lasers turn people into pedophiles. /troll I'm sure that at least one "trustworthy" news source would publish that bullshit as fact.

    General Safety Help

And I don't agree with your statement. I'm a hobbyist, yet I do care about the optical density of safety goggles. I'm not into lasers because I "want to see the beam", I'm into lasers because I like using coherent light to burn stuff. And my retinas are NOT included in the stuff I want to burn...

Why is blue so much cheaper then green?

Ah, okay. So, except for the color (and that it's being sold as a complete system), it's not conceptually any different than the high-powered diodes that Aixiz has been selling for years, and it's just another example of media whores losing an occasion to shut up.

Why is blue so much cheaper then green?

BTW, are those diodes single mode or multimode?

    The thread about "real" goggles/glasses. . .

Is this style of goggles available for 445nm lasers? If I buy a 1W laser, I want something that seals my eyes completely, NOT normal glasses that leave gaps at the edges where reflected beams can still pass.

What the !&@# is this legit???????

Anyway, the point is now moot because the Atlantis is no longer in catalog (probably because someone protested that it's way overpowered to be sellable) and it's safe to assume that the Arctic will follow suit soon. Either that, or the price will soon increase to $1979.79 because "hey, if our...

Because burning stuff with photons is fun.

IR beam into VIsible beam how?

Oops. Sorry, I corrected my post. Absolutely not, because that thing does NOT amplify IR light. I may not yet have Tech Junkie's knowledge, but I recognize a crock when I see one, and that's exactly what that thing is. Assuming it works (i.e. it actually allows you to see the little infrared...
