first you should introduce yourself in the welcome section and tell about your location. as for your problem i don't get the part of 167ma,you need around 1.5-1.8A to drive this diode over 1.5w

And considering the fact that most of the times we overdrive them and double or even triple the recommended from datasheet output. Sharp diodes are very nice on divergence and durability i just don't like the box reflection that force us to use a 3 element or acrylic lens.

can a diode draw current and heat up without emiting any light out of it?(led) i never encountered something like this,interesting,i'll wait the results that you will come up after testing

its not exactly "no matter what" because when a driver is boosting to make the extra volts on the output it draws more current than the output current to make that job, if the curent on input and output was the same then it can't magically makes the volts and the actuall total watts output...

this is the first time i see a dead diode that isn't "led" but produces heat,also it doesn't make sense this 3,9v and 173ma as this is a high vf diode and i guess this is a boost driver, so at 3,9v would work in full regulation,that means higher than 300ma to produce the output of 275ma and the...

no problem :) i don't think the chinese sellers know anything about the drivers they are selling as in my case i opened a case after recieved the driver because it suposed to be constant current without any modes,the seller asked me what diode i used and replied "nubm07",he replied back ands...

as everyone said the diode is dead,you should not try to make your own driver as even an overshoot on the start would kill the diode,there are tons of things that can go wrong on a laser build but we can't be sure what happend in your case. about your 2nd question if it is a blue diode then yes...

N520 and NDG7475 are both great and very similar,ndg7475 seems to be little stronger,i suggest one of those two as you said to match the led ;) seems that you already got one 520nm diode so use the one that you already have :)

Previous summer i had a 80mw 532nm laser and we were 4 people alone pointing it at the night sky,the beam was very visible to all of us but if someone went about 15 meters further he could't see the beam at all,he thought that we making fun of him that the pointer was turned off.
