awesome complete laser, does it cost more to get a wavelengh mesured diode? seems very good deal for a complete laser, hope to enjoy this beautiful color
Welcome to lpf this laser lands definetly between 1-1.6watt i doubt any higher, you absolutly need glasses for this especially when burning stuff due to reflections
i got the skyworf AAA host and i think with some cutting modifications i can fit a driver inside as the only thing that takes all the space is the led metal frame and screws in till the battery end.
i have a thinking and i guess i'll ask everyones opinion.
in my thinking there is a very good chance those diodes to not be the final 488nm diodes that sharp will mass produce.sharp is making various batches till the production of the final product,we have already seen the first batch that...
Same host doesn't mean same polarity, depends on each diode needs(if the diode is case positive, negative or neutral).you could fried your laser with wrong polarity very well, make sure to ask your supplier to be sure next time
i just gave another try the acrylic lens and now i clearly remember why i didn't like it,it still has a faint reflection box near the dot,i'll upload the photo tomorrow because i need to sleep for now.
exactly what Nexgen said,if you are using a boost driver on this diode probably you fried either diode or driver or both, this is a very low vf diode and you need a buck driver to power it. if your diodes are still alive i suggest to lower the current around 1A as those diodes are not that...
check Bacon's thread,i posted a pic there,i think we are talking for the same thing paul as mine is only visible at very short distances between laser and target.preety clear dot on far beams :D
this is what i call wings, this is my 505nm build and i had the laser 20cm away from the target,if i aim it at over a meter those spread too much and lose the visibility so doesn't bother me.
i can confirm that i had better results with a 3 element glass lens coated for 520nm on my latest 505nm build(im planning to upload it soon) than acrylic lens, the reflection box is completely invisible. it has some wing reflections but are far from the clean dot to bother me.acrylic didn't had...
probably a back reflection from the cracked glass, although the glass is transparent if it breaks it can make reflections of any way.
if a strong relfection hits the laser the lens of it focus the light back to the emitter and burns the diode itself
edit:Ivansuper i don't see how you can...
What current you running the diode to achive 140mw? Im thinking to set mine 170-200 ma as the wavelengh is already high on the edge between blue and green. Your camera pick the colors better than mine. Very nice builds,i still waiting my pico drive to arrive for my build :)
I'll rep when i...
i like that i got a higher wavelengh diode as i mostly wanted to see the edge between blue and green, the thing is that after that im gonna look for a lower wavelengh one to make 2 different builds.
isn't it strange that we can see 2 different colors and make 2 different builds out of one...
today i received my 490nm diode from styropyro's group buy and made a quick run on my psu,the color is definitely between blue and green probably a 491nm or even more.not that bad though i like this color :)
