    Soldering leads to diodes

As seen on one of the videos on THIS page, you gotta have a well heated, clean tipped, well tinned and fluxed joint to solder quickly and with style. Use some sort of flux. My personal favorite is the flux syringe and/or flux pen. They happen to be pretty darn useful when it comes to soldering...

Whats a good cheap buring laser?

Burning blue, burning blue... I feel you're a BIT IMMATURE on this forum, but I assure you that you can find most of the information by reading before asking. I believe that a true hobbyist shouldn't merely possess a laser, but building one and learning from it and thus truly OWNING one. And...

XJ-H1700 4000 lumens, anyone open one yet?

We should anticipate SOMETHING interesting in this 4K lumen beast. It costs 2 grand... what a hefty investment. Something like this would probably take some sort of group effort, since it is so costly. Just like exploring space, humans on earth have to sort out the economy at home before we...

beam reflected on skin could be dangerous for the eyes?

Magmabeam is correct. Concentrated light in a small area will reflect in a greater magnitude. This doesnt pose a problem unless they are 400-475nm lasers in excess of 150mW. But then again, nearUV lasers could cause skin problems and great damage to the eyes.

    Canada customs stole my battery!!

I should reiterate that most Ultrafire 18650's are approximately 1,600mAh 2,000mAh and If you're lucky, 2.4Ah. Dealextreme sells a large market share of the cheap Ultrafire 18650s. You may want to buy from them, but the problem is that they ARE from China, and that may subject you to customs. I...

    My new 445 - Aurora C6 Host!

Preferably, one should turn off their CW laser (at 1 watt) at around 2 minutes of operation, as at ambient room temperature, the laser heats up to ~130 F in 2 minutes... With the increasing power, the efficiency also goes down, so at 1.8 watts, 1 minute of operation should be enough time to...

Fastest Burning Handheld Green Laser Challenge

Was the downtime in the laser operation intended in the video? Usually, lasers on this forum are single switch circuits that turn on 'instantly'. A sort of safety measure?

    Arctic blue laser demo

Its how you calculate laser power without a power meter. That is, its very DIFFICULT.

    Arctic blue laser demo

If you're gonna do your 'testing' that way, at least use thermodynamics, specific heats, rate of change (derivatives), joule imput/output, effectivity, Delta H of fusion, Delta G, Raleigh scattering, air power reduction, radian divergence, absorption spectrum variables and molar mass...

    Ultrafire C3 direct-pressfit heatsinks!

I guess you're right. Back when I had two C3's I had no idea of any lasers of any sort. Now that I joined the flashlight-gutting-laser-modding community, I now know how to work these things. But to get these things apart back then, I basically destroyed the entire head... since Im now more...

    Ultrafire C3 direct-pressfit heatsinks!

I've had some trouble disassembling these little things. What IF the solder is latched onto the sides of the head? I've tried desoldering, but it heatsinks too well, and either the braid gets stuck on the blob, or the PCB deteriorates... ideas?

That assault head looks lethal. Ensure that this is not a toy.

I want the most awesome burning laser

... Build your own! Cheaper, and more easily customized. Plus you learn a lot from it. If you're just here for the lasers... it just feels a bit immature to the community. A true hobbyist/enthusiast learns, not simply just plays around, y'know.

Diagnostic Tests on the Boostdrive v1

Testload... thats what I thought. Although theres still some thermal paste on the drive itself, that shouldn't be much of a problem. Thanks for the fast help guys. Is there any other way besides using a test load?

Diagnostic Tests on the Boostdrive v1

Hi all I was wondering if there are any diagnostic tests that can be performed on the boostdrive v1 by drlava. I bought one a while ago and after mounting it, I removed it by picking off the glue on the driver board. After a few tedious hours, I removed most of the thermal paste and glue, and I...

    problem with current mBoostdrive&mFlexdrive

Wow. Your photos stun me. I wish I could take macros of SUCH beauty. oh. Anyways, to the main point. The pot on the flexdrive is something you might not find commonly around electronic stores locally, but the best solution is to contact the DIRECT seller of these drivers, aka. "drlava" on these...
