i just took apart a cd writer from an used computer. will this give me better results? if not 2 AA batteries, then what? And as for the wiring, is it basically any kind of metal wire will do? I just took 2 wires i found within the player and taped it to the battery.

well i don't know about the circuits but the clip it comes with keeps coming off(at least for mine it does), but a bit of superglue will do the trick. the button feels kinda low quality.

I just harvested the diode from an old DVD player(not burner) lying around. It was originally from my computer but I upgraded to better ones. I connected the + to one of the pins and - to ground. Nothing happened, am I doing something wrong? Or is it IR and I can't see it? I'm practicing on...

they are extremely good deals and have a good power/price ratio, but the quality is questionable. The output power will vary a lot(for the high powered models), and are quite fragile. but if you just want one to play with, they're great.

I'm pretty sure you need to unscrew the aperature cap to clean the lens

I was wondering if anyone can post a closeup picture of an executive dragon case? All the pictures on WL sucks. Is there a hole on the case for the button, will it be a snug fit(like it won't rattle), and will it really protect the laser?
