Micro Boost and LOC 815 diode

check this new thread in the driver section: http://laserpointerforums.com/f67/diy-plans-guide-driver-635-650nm-diodes-up-200ma-cheap-unfinished-55638.html. Rafa is powering a red diode with a single Li-Ion and his linear driver.

[DIY] Driver for 635nm diodes, 200mA~ Cheap! And my PCB making tutorial, Easy!

Re: [DIY Plans and guide] Driver for 635-650nm diodes, up to 200mA~ Cheap! [Unfinishe I see, so one just needs to get over the LD dropout voltage in order to light it. I asked because I've only read about people running reds at 3.0V...

[DIY] Driver for 635nm diodes, 200mA~ Cheap! And my PCB making tutorial, Easy!

Re: [DIY Plans and guide] Driver for 635-650nm diodes, up to 200mA~ Cheap! [Unfinishe What's the dropout voltage you are expecting from this? I read the datasheet and it looks like 0.9-1.1V at 200mA output. I've not made a laser yet, so I am probably missing something here:) How would a...

    dicks an lasers

I thought this thread would be a philosophical treatise comparing our obsession with lasers to out male pride:thinking: Like why is everyone REALLY trying to build the most powerful laser beam kinda questions:whistle: And after reading I think in a way it has been, but more along the lines of...

    I phone+445 Laser+Quad Rc copter=FUN???

This is a stupid stupid idea. Please dont put anything over 5mW on a toy helicopter! But at this point why bother, you cant see the beam of a 5mW? To see the beam you need more output power, but that also means blinding people in an instant!!! The shaking from the motors alone will make the...

I've been seeing an eye doctor

I remember the floaties back to kindergarten. I assumed they were just blood cells trying to make their way through my eye... Either way it's fun to try to look at them and watch them run away from you:) The reason everyone who said they started seeing floaties when they got their first...

    Possible cheap host? $1.39 ebay

yea, its beam did look like something produced by a 50mA generic type LED:) Good job on disassembly, thanx for showing the insides!

    Possible cheap host? $1.39 ebay

NDI Energizer Cheapo Shots taken at the same manual camera settings. Lights were 1m from the wall. Of the 2 ebay lights only 1 still lives - I put Li-Ion into this host and now it's dead:) Before I popped it and still running on 1.5 I saw ~2x brightness of the Cheapo from ebay.

    Possible cheap host? $1.39 ebay

got my 2 flashlights today! they sure feel like POS... the aluminum is so thin and light that it makes the host feel like it's plastic! no show stoppers though, cheap feel was expected from anything at this price:) today was one of those days when I didnt bring a box of fresh AA cells to...

**Maybe Another?** GB: LPC-815 Sleds $4.45 300mW Red Laser Diode

Re: **Closed Accepting Payments!** Official GB: LPC-815 Sleds $4.45 300mW Red Laser D I wish I was around for this GB... I'd be in for 5 sleds if anyone would do a new one. I'd start one myself, but I dont have enough posts/reps/"laser-cred" :)

Looking for general help in understanding regulator design

Toke, I know what you meant by confusing:) oh, I hope your Red is OK! Trip to CT turned out to be very productive - I borrowed a Fluke 79-III  I also changed input power supplies, the new one puts out 15.83V. The combination of these two factors now produces consistent results that...

Looking for general help in understanding regulator design

so one thing im hearing is that i'd be better off trying an adjustable voltage regulator like an LM317 instead of the fixed 5V. i also need to re-do the equation and add RL=2.6ohm. i am not sure if this would be correct tho, the Io current value in the datasheet seems to only depend on the...

Looking for general help in understanding regulator design

i was building figure 14, sorry for the typo before when i said 15 instead. in fig 14 there is one resistor R1, mine is 10.4ohm. RL is the lamp at 2.6ohm.

Looking for general help in understanding regulator design

i've read that CPF guide using the special chip. there is also a chip like this by maxim, forgot the number. i was hoping i could use less specialized components. oh, and im sure i can get enough in samples to make more than one charger, so cost isnt really an issue.

Looking for general help in understanding regulator design

Thanx Coherent, i really appreciate your help! i didnt really say in my last post, but i guess im trying to figure out why the measured values seem to be off from calculated. This seems to be true for Vxx, Io and Id, as none of them seem to match the datasheet. for example, there is a...

Looking for general help in understanding regulator design

that's what i was going for, i didnt have 0.33 so i put 3x1.0 in series instead. here is the board with the parts laid out here is 12.82V input (i said 16V before, that was wrong). I used the white wires to connect from the switch to the chip input, from the chip input to positive side of...

Looking for general help in understanding regulator design

I plan on eventually making drivers for lasers, but I haven't ordered a single "laser" part yet:) (well, except those 5 Mohrengberg heatsinks, but they were cheap) What I'm doing now is making simple power supplies using a breadboard and trying them out on equally make-shift test-loads. I have...
