I've used many of those, and a cd-rom LD will be pointless. I hooked up alot of them for tests, running at 150-350ma, but either way-it is pointless (they just gives off a dim red glow to the naked eye), unless it is a high power IR LD.

Not necessarily. This driver may be fine. Just use a DMM to steadily check the pots resistance. Alot of drivers range range from low ( #ma to 60ma....to high; 100ma-400ma) for special diode purposes. If this is not the case with this driver, then buy another that suites up to 100ma. That is...

Most host's will be impossible to fit this ^^ setup. Along with the driver, and the module, you will most likely not be able to fit it all in. Plus you have to consider the batteries space too. There are definitely ways to fit this in, but the host type is needed before i can help. As for...
