    Cryptic laser build

I planned to post this sooner but then people started asking for crappy beamshots. Heat sinking is bad, but this was a 1-day build anyways. Duty is about 60s before they get warm, and after about 120s on/off duty spread over 5 min they get finger-hot (45C). Get a load of this switch wiring...

    505nm and 480nm diode RESULTS

Oh Paul, I see you have an Ocean Optics spectrometer. How much was it? The Ocean Optics JAZ that I use at work is definitely outside of a hobby budget (~$1500)

    Cryptic laser build

Some of you are quite right and some of you quite wrong. But there are still features I haven't seen mentioned yet. And yes, steering cats is a feature all lasers should have, so that doesn't count.

    505nm and 480nm diode RESULTS

Reserve one for me :) Btw 505nm is the color of 'traffic light green LED' in The Netherlands. Every traffic light build after 2008 has a few hundred of those LEDs, but they are deceptively difficult to obtain as a consumer. One shop that ceased long ago had 10 in stock for me (labeled 'Aqua...

    505nm and 480nm diode RESULTS

It seems most people here are looking for as low a wavelength as possible. I however am looking for as close to 505nm as possible. Are people on a cyan quest or something? I'd love to see more results from those SB147EB91s.

    505nm and 480nm diode RESULTS

    Confirmed, my 512nm are SB147EC91.

    505nm and 480nm diode RESULTS

I'd also like a supplier for the <505nm diodes because I want that wavelength!

    505nm and 480nm diode RESULTS

How can I find out? I got it from DTR. (Link) In fact, that shop page links to this thread 'for more details'.

    505nm and 480nm diode RESULTS

Just pitching in. I haven't read all 46 pages, hell maybe not even 46 posts of this thread. But I thought you might appreciate my radiometric findings. 505nm diode Low: 510nm High: 512nm PL520 diode: Low: 523nm High: 525nm Here 'high' means 275mA and 'low' means that I feed 2.50V into a...

    LPC-826 graphs

This diode has been here for a while, so has anyone ever made more accurate graphs, possibly even analyzed the bell curve for diode variations?

    GBFeeler? 405-G-2 $20 ea @ Laser66! 1 Week only sale, 445 9mm lens (G9) on dhgate?

I'll give Windex a try. (I've only heard of the name on the internets, here it's called something different in out native language)

Re: 405-G-2 $20 ea @ Laser66! 1 Week only sale, & 9mm diode lens (G9) on dhgate? "with teflon" I don't understand. I already wiped the lens surfaces with a clean microfiber cloth.

    GBFeeler? 405-G-2 $20 ea @ Laser66! 1 Week only sale, 445 9mm lens (G9) on dhgate?

Re: 405-G-2 $20 ea @ Laser66! 1 Week only sale, & 9mm diode lens (G9) $12 ea Tried that dozens of times. It always traps enough microdust to pollute the beam. The dust isn't visible even under a 10x loupe but very visible when putting it on a laser:

    Bad Luck Laser

See that white piece at the bottom? That's the ceramic top of the peltier. It's true that I had concerns about the temperature, because of the temperature gradient in the aixiz head. When I measured it, it was 25°C at the bottom and 50°C degrees on top (where you see the thin spot of thermal...

    [UPDATE] V4 BlitzBuck, Available Soon!

Dead as a mutton. Actually it does draw current, 40mA regardless of load, making it quite warm too. The hole is in front of pin 2, so it's definitely nowhere near pins 6-8 where the internal power MOSFETs are situated.

    A challenge to code breakers

Clearly you haven't studied cryptography, and that's actually good, as a cryptographer can't really think out of the box, but you're not in the box to begin with. Anything you could 'invent' that involves rotating letters in the alphabet, whether or not depending on the character position, and...

    GBFeeler? 405-G-2 $20 ea @ Laser66! 1 Week only sale, 445 9mm lens (G9) on dhgate?

Re: 405-G-2 $20 ea @ Laser66! 1 Week only sale, & 9mm diode lens (G9) $12 ea I might be interested in three lenses at that price. How exactly do you use these lenses and focus with them? looks from the pictures that they are mounted directly to the diode without focus ability, but in DTR's shop...

    First Laser Build!

tool: diode press. I use a few 5.5mm M4 nuts but there's someone selling a professional machined diode press here too. Don't forget soldering equipment and wire. For hosts and more look at Made in LPF And I would start with something cheaper and safer, like 200mW red. When I first started...
