    Laserbuilder's homebuilt ruby laser

And then, accidentally I had found a shiny sheet of chromium plated steel. Of course, I wrapped it around the lamps instead of those tiles. The lasing threshold fell to 1.5 kJ, maximum output increased to, possibly, 2-3 J of laser light. Metal sparked quite spectecularly, when hit with the...

    Laserbuilder's homebuilt ruby laser

When the first version of the laser failed, I rebuilt the laser into the second version. I purchased two 2 kJ lamps that ideally matched the crystal. I had to remake the mounts for both the crystal and lamps. The resonator mirrors I left the same. I connected both lamps in series, which allowed...

    Laserbuilder's homebuilt ruby laser

Long time ago I have found a quite big (8*120 mm) ruby crystal from a pulsed holography setup and a couple of big 5 kJ flashlamps. So, I immediately decided to try to build a ruby laser. At the first attempt I tried to put the lamp and the ruby crystal into a cylindrical glass reflector. I...

Laserbuilder's collection of gas and other lasers

    14) GL-509 Carbon Monoxide (CO) laser tube for ILGN-706 laser. Yes, this is a CO tube! Not CO2! It can lase on many IR lines in the range between 5 to 6 um with the gross output power of 15W. These lasers are very rare, they were developed for glass welding in vacuum tube technology and for...

Laserbuilder's collection of gas and other lasers

    13) UL-102 Copper Vapour Laser The lasing lines are 510 nm and 578 nm with at least 3 W of output power on both of them. UL-102 laser tube became the base of the fully homebuilt laser system. This is my most sophisticated laser project at the moment, that I'm very proud of. Full information...

Laserbuilder's collection of gas and other lasers

    12) Pulsed Neon laser tube. I made it from the LGI21 tube and it is fully compatible with LGI21 laser frame and PSU. It lases at 614 nm with 0.05 mW of average power. Anyway, it is a part of my collection too, so I post it here. More information is in this thread...

Laserbuilder's collection of gas and other lasers

    11) GL-510 laser tube for LGI-505 laser. This is a LE N2 laser too, but with higher output power. Rated average power is 50 mW at pulse repetition frequency 1000 Hz. Wavelength is common for N2 lasers -- 337 nm. It was scrapped with the HV power supply from ofthalmic research institute and...

Lexel Excel 3000 3W Argon Ion Power Supply?

I would try to look for it at eBay.

    My DIY orange laser

Well, maybe. I won't argue. Anyway, 1000$ is a fortune for Ukraine ar any former USSR country. A gold vapour laser was offered to me for 4000$ in Ukraine.

Homebuilt 3-5W Copper Vapour Laser System

It is very hard, big luck is needed.

    LGI-101 Copper Vapour Laser System

Only by appearance. It should have at least 100W of output power, in order to be a monster:):):)

Homebuilt 3-5W Copper Vapour Laser System

Yes, you are right, wood is not resistant to fire. But all circuitry was tested before for a long time and only then enclosed in these boxes. Any parts those under HV don't havee contact with the case, air gaps between HV parts are wide enouph to exclude arcing. Now I can say that the whole...

    My DIY orange laser

I would not agree. If you make it from scratch (and it is possible if a good neon sign shop is nearby) it won't be more expensive than an orange He-Ne. For building this laser from scratch you need an old He-Ne tube with electrodes in the side arms (not coaxial one), a 10-15 kV DC source, a...

    Ion Laser Ecstasy

Great! I like multiline ion lasers very much! Especially those that have a glass tube inside like SP16x unit.

Homebuilt 3-5W Copper Vapour Laser System

The thyratron trigger unit is complete! And it looks great together with the Blumlein section of the power supply. Moreover, I managed to squeeze some more power from the laser tube. I think that this is a practical power limit for this particular setup. I still don't know the output power, but...

Rebuilding of the main thyratron trigger circuit is in progress!

    LGI-101 Copper Vapour Laser System

Nowadays, a normal commercial CVL has at least 1% efficiency. On lab laser setups 3% was achieved, but it is very tricky as from the point of making the laser tube and electrically. As far as I know, argon is never more efficient than 0.1% for big units.
