"CLOSED.!!!" GB: For The New 3.8mm Red Diodes 660nm (REFUNDING.!!!!!!)

Re: "CLOSED.!!!" GB: For The New 3.8mm Red Diodes 660nm (Taking Payments for Round 2) These things happen, dont stress Angelos. It will be interesting to see if the 5.6mm ones are good, if not maybe post a shopping list of the other stuff you can get?

    A Unique Use for Lasers

The DVD burner diodes are usually fairly low power (75-150mW) and are semi-visible to the human eye. I think 808nm would be better - you can get high power diodes cheap on ebay as they are used in green laser pointers (frequency doubled in a crystal) among other things. You can get 500mW to 1...

Its a dud, is there any way to tell?

Well it's a bit hard to tell visually, especially with blurry pics and the thing half covered in potting compound.. O-Like are usually pretty good, what is/was it? (wavelength power etc). Also how do you know its underpowered? Did you check the batteries were charged, in the correct way etc...

    Bad beam patterens

That looks EXACTLY like the patten on my Mitsubishi ML501P73. Same symptoms, it's drawing 1.4 amps and is putting put 4mW according to my LPM.

    New host design feeler: GE-X1

OK. My hand is raised. I personally prefer to press the diode straight into the heatsink and not rely on heat transfer between an Aixis module and host, but then I guess with 3.8mm and 9mm diodes now common you would need three different models for this. *hand still raised*

Laser Stimulating Eyes to Focus More Effectively?

Hi John, Nice to have someone on who is closer to me than Sydney or Melbourne! Maybe your eyes are just trying harder to focus on the spot and its excersizing the muscles or something? I find my eyes are more fatigued when looking at lasers if anything. I hope you have eye protection? Andrew

"The Predator" 3x Single Mode 637nm

Wow cool. I have often thought about that too, the preditor laser. Great implementation Mitch! You could use a reamer to open the holes up a bit and use some thicker shims to help centre them, or maybe a grum screw front and back and"see saw" them against a thin shim in the middle?

building red laser 250 mw 660 nm

Sorry been out of town on business. Take your pick, I haven't used either and eBay is the luck of the draw. One thing i will advise is to put some nail polish or glue on the pot after you set the current correctly so that it doesn't move on you and put too much current through the diode. If you...

There are lots of drivers on eBay, here are a couple of them, you can probably find something cheaper though; 660nm red laser diode driver (HTV Inferno 2.11) | eBay 2X 3V Laser Diode Driver for 532nm Green 650mA & 200mA-240mA 650nm 660nm Red | eBay

    TEC mag 445nm "The FireFarter"

It would be interesting to measure the temperature difference between the two halves of the TEC to see how hard it's working. The X drivers are just paralleled and the TEC is obviously happy at 7.4 to 8.4 volts?

pressing TO-5 9mm diodes into hosts

Jeff, I think the time has come to buy a 3.8mm press, a 5.6mm press, and a diode extractor. I'll PM you in a minute. No, doesn't matter how long the wires are but if they are too long you'll end up with a rats nest and too short and you will have trouble assembling and disassembling things...

    How it's made laser cutter

Ahh, interesting,i didn't know that Dan. I was going to get a mill for making PCB's at one stage, but I have heard of using a CO2 laser to burn resist (i think they used paint) off a board, that's a good excuse for buying a CO2 laser. Of course one this size could just cut the copper!

    TEC mag 445nm "The FireFarter"

Wow talk about micro surgery! So you don't have any holes in the host, the fan just blows the internal air around the case? EDIT sorry just looked at the photos again, missed the holes first time I looked!

    How it's made laser cutter

Very interesting! Nitrogen, carbon dioxide and helium? Interesting.. A really big CO2 laser with the other cases as a buffer or to help excite the CO2? Huge bore and mirrors, I'm guessing its a multi kilowatt device.
