Where to find green 100mw+ diodes

pullbangdead, Do you have any links to APL or other technical papers on it? Can you suggest a few? K

please help me finish my laser!

twentyeggs, Welcome to lasers. They are cool. They are also dangerous, so be careful. 1. The driver regulates the power (more importantly the current) to the diode. You adjust the power (current) using the pot on the driver. 2. As for the batteries, you are correct. Anything over 9V will just...

    Red laser

Re: 300mW red burner copper sink $140 shipped... No need to be ashamed, Dave. We all know what you do to poor innocent diodes. :)

    Strange crystal for blu-ray

Nice post Pulldangdead. Fe is another additive which is added to glass to make it absorb in the IR (~1um). Otherwise the absorption edge is really far out into the IR (5um or so).

    Hey, Howdy, and Hello!

Welcome. What kind of medical applications? Some forum members here like using burning lasers as caterizers! ;D

    Aconsen 40-50 mW module

Great. Thanks for the quick answers. I'll test mine out, but I assume they'll be like everyone else's. Has the pot already been maximized for power? Or will moving it around most likely fry the module?

    Aconsen 40-50 mW module

Question: I just got two 40-50mWs in the mail today.  I have a few questions. 1. Is the spring in the middle is ground?  What about the two solder pads on either side of the spring?  Is the case ground? I'm not sure which is the +/- on this one. 2.  What is the best operating voltage for...

    PS3 Blu-Ray Diodes

26mW is probably just the BR, but it is a conservative estimate. The IR and red are probably <5mW. There is a on chip photodiode, though, so if you need to regulate the power, these are the diodes for you!

    PS3 Blu-Ray Diodes

Back to the original post, these are PS3 I believe: http://cgi.ebay.com/26mW-405nm-Blue-660nmm-Red-and-780nm-IR-laser-diode_W0QQitemZ330283728362QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item330283728362&_trkparms=39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A15%7C240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

just finished my bluray. super ghetto

Neat. You can wrap the battery and cables in electric tape if you still wanted to put it inside. It isn't the mW, its how many mgs (ibuprofen)!

    Shutter vs. Turnoff

I think the problem people have is with cheap switches. When they turn the laser on and off, the switch can "spike" and kill the diode. So, if you have a good switch, I wouldn't worry about it. K

    $5 835nm 500mW diodes

Interesting thread. http://www.doriclenses.com/lire/42.html has a nice photo and description of the focusing involved. They might even have samples? Kristopher

    Strange Things About Blu-Ray (405nm)

Think paper cuts. Lots of paper cuts. One is usually enough to keep your hand out of the beam for a while. Not that I'd know.

    Shutter vs. Turnoff

Hi, I don't really think you'd see much of a difference between on five minutes or on and off five times in five minutes. With drivers that use modulation, the diode turns on and off 10^3 times per second (kHz-MHz range). So, I don't know what the "bad" effect would be. If you don't have...

    FS: "Long OpenCan Diode" $17.75 >>Sold out<<

Re: FS: "Long Die OpenCan" $20 shipped In Stock Themonk, Do you have a schematic/datasheet for this LD? Since it has three pins I was wondering if it has a PD on can? Thanks, Kristopher

    ghetto rigged phr 803t :P

Looks nice.  I never tire of seeing cool lasers! As for the heat sink, I've also seen pictures here on the forum of people who just get a chunk of metal and drill a hole for the diode.  Remember, a snug fit is best.  It isn't pretty, but it gets the job done. Kristopher

WTB: Mirrors! I can't find any wtf!

Dave, Don't you know people who frequent this forum are strapped for cash as it is?  Dangling carrots like that is a poor joke!  Next time you should at least warn us! :) Kristopher
