Most of mine also have that little extraction 'scar'. I always saw a little notch in the heatsink, and then, using 2 needle nosed pliers, I grab each side of the heat sink and apply force so that the heatsink opens and the diode falls out.

Do you mean the thermophile lpm heads? They absorb all the laser light, and then compute the power by measuring how quickly the temperature rises... That´s what I think. ArRaY

I think there is a glass called amaran or armaran glass, which does not reflect light.. Not sure, look over at laserfreak.net. There is a topic somewhere...

No doubt. But I have yet to see a whitelight laser in person. Same with an argon, a krypton, 473, 593.5 etc.. :'( Why do they have to be so expencive, anyway? Egoist manufacturers ;D But if I were an important lab, I´d get one of those beautys. I think they happen to be very useful for...

Use paint. You don´t really connected your LD without the resistor??? 8V is WAY to much for any diode....
