Anyone can sell you a laser with a sticker claimming it is 1 000 000mw when it is just 100mw. There's no way the laser is portable 10000mw. Edit: Dont necropost

Like what i said earlier, a 3 element lense will give u the smallest beam spot. Both diode that you list are multimode in which the beam spot wouldn't be as small as a single mode diode. Hence, it wouldn't be ideal for a engraver.

A G2 lense wont perform well here as the smallest beam spot is needed. A 3 element lense us perfect. As the 3.5w 445nm diode is multimode, it also wont perform well. A 16x 405nm (1w) fron dtr, on the other hand, would be perfect for an engraver despite being just 1w

It wouldn't be 880mw. The efficency of things in real world will never be 100%. Just like a transformer, you can never get a 100% efficiency transformer. For this, the efficency is around 37.5% although it would vary depending on the type of lense you use. Edit: I would recommend you to use a...

I wouldn't recommend you to make a 808nm laser as your first build. It is nearly invisible and might cause you to blind someone by accident. Amyway, a welcome post in the welcome section would be nice
