    Confused about Electricity

Your resistors should end up Y shaped so that the current splits up, one half for each diode.

    Confused about Electricity

You missed the point of both my attempt at a drawing in post #7 and 123splat's elaboration. Your drawing have the LED's in parallel, that means that a slight difference can mean that one gets 10mA and the other 30mA. You will need two resistors, 330 Ohm is bests. Place the resistors next to...

Got my 500mw Green UltraFure From Price Angels!

The module is not that uncommon, but the bidding will likely end up at $800-1200.

    No problems here.

    Confused about Electricity

Yes, diodes have a voltage drop that does not increase much with current. You better be sure it is 3V, like by measuring the voltage across it when powered up for the first time. The mAh rating of the batteries is irrelevant for the calculation, it is simply a statement of it's capacity. A cars...

Got my 500mw Green UltraFure From Price Angels!

No. The NY seller could very well be legit.

    Biggest scam I've ever seen!

Good thing. :) I cant tell if he or ebay removed them, and he has not answered me on how the scam were to play out? (I can't help wondering about his panda coin, but don't know enough about it to start asking questions.)

    Scammed by scarlefwolf031

I see, that is plenty of time for some buyers to get impatient and do regrettable things. It still looks a bit odd to try to get someone to close a paypal dispute with a package on the way, the signature for it would be a great way to settle it. And where is the laser now? It have been two...

    Biggest scam I've ever seen!

What are the chances it will arrive within paypals 45 days of payment?

    Confused about Electricity

It you don't figure out how to apply Ohms Law you should stay away from any DIY electronics/electrical projects. To answer your question: you deduct the 3V voltage drop over the diode from the total supplied by the battery. 9V - 3V = 6V Now you want a resistor that can give you a 6V voltage...

    Scammed by scarlefwolf031

This sounds strange, how long could UPS take to ship something from Canada to USA? Is there really time enough to file disputes, holding back packages, faxing paperwork, etc. ? Or do you need some days between payment and shipment to manage it?

    AA batteries and Aixis Driver?

LM317 and a 4.7Ohm resistor for 265mA? (Although not likely to give a different result if you have 5.65 over the diode.)

    AA batteries and Aixis Driver?

Yes, sounds like it. :( It it is any comfort, the same happened to me last month with this driver and a LOC. Mysterious, as the first driver is powering a 12X at 400mA with no trouble.

Ready for an IR - best practices?

The only practical advise I can think off is to get a cheap web camera, non IR filtered, so you can hide behind the screen and observe your laser beam. At least that is my plan for a 20W on the way.

    Biggest scam I've ever seen!

Part of the fraud thing is the news value. 5W flash lights with a battery that gives off 1W is kind of old. That <150mW lasers are a lot less is known to us too. The 6W handheld is so far out that it is hard to excuse by ignorance or "grandfathering in". There is also the difference of one...

    Biggest scam I've ever seen!

rhd, Here it comes. :D Yes ok, there could be a 6W IR diode in there, but since all other lasers are sold on their output it would still be misleading to the point of fraud. It is theoretically possible that he is somehow unaware of the state of technology and is selling it in good faith. He...

    Biggest scam I've ever seen!

I reported him for fraud, with something like "no way that is 6W". Perhaps some elaboration would have been in order, it may not be self-evident to an ebay office dweller?

    Biggest scam I've ever seen!

I have send him a question on how the scam plays out when/if a customer can tell 6W from up to 0.6W, particularly what plans he have for hiding the money. I wonder if the question will come up on the item without his approval?

    Biggest scam I've ever seen!

Good, this kind of rip-off artist bothers me.
