Help with multi LM317 in parallel

I think I'll just get the one controller for now and eventually play around with making some sort of custom controls out of an arduino and PWM Thanks for the input everyone.

Help with multi LM317 in parallel

I was thinking of using a PC PSU which are very stable, so I'm thinking I may not need the LM in the circuit at all... just a good pot and the resistor->LED->LED strings in parallel should be ok. just wonder if those RGB led strips can be controlled separately with one control box or if I need...

Help with multi LM317 in parallel

I have been ordering all my electronics pieces from this place. Resistors usually are already a penny a piece, no bulk necessary. 1.2 OHM 1/4W 5% Carbon Film Resistor

Help with multi LM317 in parallel

:D So if the LEDs are in a 3 in series, multiple in parallel, it's ok as long as each series has a resistor to protect that mini strand?

Help with multi LM317 in parallel

I think using the strips would be the best... thinking of not soldering 750 LEDs.... :undecided: I haven't seen any information on using them, but if I wanted 3 separate strings to separately change color, would I need to get 3 different control boxes/remotes? or is it possible to use one, set...

Help with multi LM317 in parallel

Cold Cathode tubes would be pretty neat looking... but you need a power box usually for a pair. Haven't looked inside or know how easy it would be to build my own power inverters for them. I also don't know if you can dim cold cathodes, just use an inline var-resistor? If I did tubes, I would...

Help with multi LM317 in parallel

I actually did test those... of the two 47 Ohms, one was 47, one was 52. I thought I had tested these LM317s before and they seemed to work... are they fairly easy to kill? I haven't been doing anything outside of their normal operation (40+volt 1.5+A) I tested them separately as well as in...

Help with multi LM317 in parallel

Yes that is correct. I did try measuring off Vout just in case I was off my rocker, but it read 1.7A! I've built a few similar circuits... I never had this kinda of trouble before. Everything read out normally before.

Help with multi LM317 in parallel

I may look at strips more if I can't get something figured out for these 5mm.. I have a ton of 5mm which is why I wanted to use em up in a big project, but those strips do look really cool! So, project aside, I simply put test loads on 2 LM317s in parallel as I have drawn, with 23 Ohms on...

Help with multi LM317 in parallel

I suppose I can do that instead of using 5mm LEDs... but I still want to be able to switch on each color on each level and control brightness as well. Just all on and all off is easy enough to do... but I want more! :D

Help with multi LM317 in parallel

So here's my original idea... which was to have 3 levels of lights, under desk, on desk, above desk. Each level has 5 different strings of 50 LEDs that I want to control brightness separately on. Now, instead of parallel 50 LEDs like originally thought, I could use your last drawing and with 13...

Help with multi LM317 in parallel

Makes sense why to not parallel... but it seems easier to get high amps than it does high voltage in this application. The different output on the LMs are tested with the same loads... and all the LEDs are rated for and should be running the same current. so the difference doesn't make sense to...

Help with multi LM317 in parallel

I have built a 9 LED circuit that runs all in parallel with a single 18650, but not using an LM3XX, but regardless, I don't see why the LMs are giving only 6mA except one at 60mA? I'm using 5mm LEDs. Red, Blue, Green, White, and UV. All clear. 3 rows of 5 colors of 5 sets of 10 = 750 LEDs...

Help with multi LM317 in parallel

Your schematic is exactly what I have... except I was going to run the LEDs of each strand in parallel and up the Amps and not rely on so much volts. I was using 23 Ohms just for testing 2 or 3 LEDs in parallel on each strand. I don't want to push 1 Amp each strand until I have the things...

Help with multi LM317 in parallel

I'm trying to set up a circuit to drive some custom LED lighting in my office space and need some help getting the LM317s working properly. I have 5 different color LEDs and will be using about 1A Max for each string of switchable LEDs (50 LEDs). My problem is while testing my LM317s in...

    GB oemlasersystems goggles (CLOSED)

Agreed :) Funds are tight at the moment, but next time, I'll be getting a pair for red protection so I'm covered for all the elements I'll be using!

    GB oemlasersystems goggles (CLOSED)

Has anybody not received your goggles yet? Should be there for everyone by now (except for 1 pickup and 1 delivery being held for safe keeping until end of May) My ARGs and DBDs have been nothing but fantastic! Thank you everyone.
