    Just received RF532-50mw-QGT, not great.

Those are some pretty good pics for a phone camera. If you want to get the exact power on it, find a reputable LPF member with a laser power meter who lives nearby. Most members will test your laser for free if you pay return shipping. If you want serious burning power for cheap, check out the...

When can we expect 16x Blu-ray?

You guys have it all wrong. The main reason these companies are developing these higher powers is for multiple layered Blu-ray discs, not write speed. Once technology develops to allow for multiple layers, we'll be able to store multiple times more on a disc than what we are right now.

    WTB Burning blu ray laser

I can tell you from personal experience that high powered (like half watt) 405nm dots are really hard on the eyes, even though they are dimmer. A 445nm 1 watt laser will definitely give you the most bang for your buck. Read around and you'll find that Wicked Lasers is...

I got some good pics of my build. They're in my first post (post #2).

    Drivers for 445

I would love to know this as well. It seems that 1100mA works, and I'm looking for something that can buck and boost at 1.5A for a 445nm LD from a Vin of 3.0-8.4V. I've been looking all over the place for something like that, and the flexdrive is the only thing that comes close.

Matching Red, Green, Blu customs by Ehgemus

Ok! Chill!!!! I totally agree with you that they are worth at least 3x what he charges for them. You're right, I just misunderstood that. I can't believe this offer hasn't been gobbled up already. If I had the money atm I would have taken it the moment I'd seen it...

Matching Red, Green, Blu customs by Ehgemus

Each host is $35, so it would be $105 for all of them. $300 for 3 lasers this good is an amazing deal though! I just spent $400 on a single 12x blu-ray build I made, and that doesn't factor in the 12x diode I killed (:cryyy:). I'd grab this right now if I weren't in the red from that build!

Thanks! The titles on those signs all are missing the last letter. They say "Cautio" and "Dange".

    The infamous laser that freezes?

It's not a feasible concept yet. :) Who knows, in 30 years freeze rays may be as common as refrigerators. Refrigeration certainly wasn't feasible at one point.

    looking for violet 20-80mW

When you buy from websites like Ledshoppe, you can't be quite sure what you're getting. You might get lucky and get a 80mW, or you might get 20mW. I'm not quite sure why, but blu-rays from reputable websites tend to be really overpriced. I know IgorT sells high quality custom builds, but he runs...

Pot dial Idea - Adjusting Power on Demand

I brought this idea up about a month ago, and we came up with a bunch of ideas here. I never actually went through with it though. The 445nm craze swept through the forum and I forgot about the whole thing. :friend: I'd be very interested to see someone actually pull off something like this and...

    The LED Thread

That stuff looks fantastical! When did this other lighting category come into existence... Go to RatShack at buy a POS soldering iron (I use a grounded 15 Watt one they sell), solder, some thin wire (20-30 gauge), and desoldering braid. Get some broken old electronic device and take the...

Why so much hate on lasers?

Captain Dan, you are wrong. You're wrong in every way a person could be wrong. Did you even see my post? That was from a laser hitting an eye for a split second. It doesn't even take more than a millisecond to get a blind spot like that for the rest of your life. If you don't believe me, then...

CLOSED * GB for OEM Laser Systems protective eyewear

Re: GB for OEM Laser Systems protective eyewear @avusmaximus From what I understand, it will be like this: 25 units is 15% off + 7.5% off discount regardless of quantity = 22.5% off + free shipping to middleman. It's your 3rd line, but the number is 25, not 26. 26 is the number on the OEM...

Why so much hate on lasers?

I personally do know someone who has been permanently blinded (not completely, but a big blind spot) by a laser! It was by a 250mW, and it wasn't temporary... (PWNED)

    Drivers for 445

From what I've read and been told (I have no past experience), a Flex can go to 1.5A, but it cannot support a high voltage diode such as a blu-ray or 445nm diode at these high currents. These diodes take like 5v or something. Amps * Volts = Watts. The Flexdrive can support 1.5A, but not 5*1.5A=...

Re: GB for OEM Laser Systems protective eyewear @ducky Welcome to the forum! It's definitely still open for orders. Right now we're putting a list together of people interested (no commitments) so we can get the 25 orders necessary for the maximum discount. The DI4 would definitely work well...

Buy/Sell/Trade Board -- Mostly Laser Related or Not?

There's not really anything wrong with that. It might even work the opposite way. I've noticed that sometimes people will post things in the wrong section so that it will get more traffic. It wouldn't make a huge difference either way.

Re: GB for OEM Laser Systems protective eyewear The wavelength response for the AL3 shows that from 395-540nm, the OD is mostly above 2 with a small peak above 3. The ANSI specs state that they are certified for OD 3 from 395-540. What's up with that? I don't really know much about...
