No, because the wavelength of light emitted will be the same on either side of the glass, 532nm. It's not like white light, which you can split into many different colours because white light is made up of the entire rainbow.

Far too many people are swayed by Wicked's slick advertising. To the average person, all it takes is a balloon pop, a matchlight, a tapecut and a few beamshots to sell a Spyder II GX at $1700. Wicked is making money hand over fist and will continue to do so due to the gullibility of people at large.

I have two of Nova's plastic diffraction gratings, the rainbow ones with 13,500 lines/inch on them, and they work very well, but I imagine glass/crystal would work much better.

Either of them will burn someone. A laser burns black things best because of the same reason a black car gets hot in the sun; it absorbs all of the light energy as heat, and when focused into a tiny little spot like the dot of a laser, that adds up pretty quickly.
