    How to remove excess solder?

you could try cleaning the tip of your iron on the sponge, melting the solder blob and flicking the solder off. depending on how 'serious' the situation is, you could use some solder wick and flux to suck the solder off. (solder wick and flux works like a sponge to water on solder)

    Pulsed driver ideas

you could look into the picaxe, it is programmable in basic. it even has a PWM command. (its like a basic stamp but all in one chip, and cheaper) you could have 2 pots connected to its ADC ports to control the freq and on/off times otherwise here is a circuit for adjustable frequency...

    3V input driver DIY

the current in that schematic is set by the resistor, but it should't be a pot because that resistor has all the current from the LD flowing through it. it should be a smd resistor, or 2 in series/parallel to get the right value. the value of the resistor is R=0.5/I and how did i make it so...

Help, amplifier for PS3 XY mini projector

meh, i didn't read it, just click the link at the bottom to download the program. it doesn't make much sense translated anyway

    Boost driver ideas...

the inductor is 2.2uH, and i designed the board for the coilcraft inductor its dimensions are here http://www.coilcraft.com/misc/lps3015d.html I can't remember what size smd parts i designed it for.

    Pulsed driver ideas

I would use a microcontroller and a FET. simply because its easier but if analogue is your thing... if you use a 555 also have a schmitt trigger to drive the fet, because you want to drive it with a square wave, not whatever comes out of a 555... just hook up the fet between the driver and the...

    Romisen L-A030 AMC driver

the board they come on is useless as far as heatsinking goes. I just held a micro blow torch to the back of the board until all the chips slid off, and made a new board using a dremel to cut the tracks (CBF etching a circuit)

Help, amplifier for PS3 XY mini projector

i found a mention of 'heathcliff' in some other thread http://patrick.kolla.de/index.heathcliff.html I tried it, my scanner doesn't really display corners :P not QUITE a galvo setup... it is a cool way of playing around with different shapes though

    Romisen L-A030 AMC driver

yeah it is. the board with 3 on it. IgorT gave it to me. what where you driving though? if it was a red then that would make sense. but the voltage drop on these things is only 0.2V

Help, amplifier for PS3 XY mini projector

sweet, now how do we control it to produce images, instead of just creating sine wave patterns. surely there must be a pc app that can drive coils like these (through the sound card) to do cool stuff

    Romisen L-A030 AMC driver

I measured it, it sucks 350mA from a charged 3.0V RCR-123 the LD voltage at 350mA is just under 2V, and the voltage drop on the AMC is 0.2V, so it should work down to 2.2V input but it drains it pretty fast, i really need to get a decent 3.6V cell

huh? its all metal. that picture is of the module out of the body.here is another pic

    Romisen L-A030 AMC driver

The driver in my 30mW green was playing up, it was under driving the laser most of the time, so much so that it wasn't lasing green. I measured the current, when it was working it was 250mA, when it wasn't it was at 100mA anyway i thought, screw it i will just throw an AMC in it and drive it at...

maybe coilcraft should lower its shipping costs... its like $40 minimum

Focal length of AixiZ acrylic lens?

the focal length of a solid lens is always fixed. you are just moving the lens (and its focal point) when you screw the lens in and out. the focal length of the aixiz acrylic is something around 5mm, or 2.5mm from the base of the black plastic. its pretty long, that's why the beam is so wide...

Driver Ideas. DC/DC stepup AND CCregulation

I drew a schematic and designed a board for another chip here http://www.laserpointerforums.com/forums/YaBB.pl?num=1209911140/24#33 but i never made it. it would be pretty similar to implement with the TPS61200 to get a general idea of the layout look at the third example in my drawing back on...

Driver Ideas. DC/DC stepup AND CCregulation

ok imagine you have a 12V light globe and a 100V light globe, they both have the same current, say 1Amp. and you are sitting there with your adjustable power supply. you have an ammeter in your supply too. you plug in the 100V globe and increase the voltage from zero until you get 1amp. this...

Help, amplifier for PS3 XY mini projector

its not really an xy scanner though is it? i thought those lenses could only track sideways and focus forward and back. it looks like the mirrors are banging against the bottoms and making random vibrations. still looks cool and it only requires one sled. I am going to try making an xy scanner...

Driver Ideas. DC/DC stepup AND CCregulation

you can measure current using a resistor and measuring the voltage across it. because V=IR. so a switching chip can measure current by measuring the voltage across a resistor. getting it yet? read on the switching chip is programmed to increase its output until it gets the right voltage on...

    Boost driver ideas...

that's a bad idea. that image is TOO small. the feedback track is shown as touching ground and pins are touching. its better just to print it at 13%, then the print won't lose any resolution, by resizing the actual image you have lost resolution.
