A Planet, the Milky Way, & a Laser

Well the Canon 1000D seems to be pretty good, highest ISO is only 1600 though, my D3 goes up to 6400. So if 1600 ISO will suit you then it will be a good camera. Here is a full list of canon cameras including samples and a full review of each: Canon Digital Cameras: Digital Photography Review...

A Planet, the Milky Way, & a Laser

I understand that....I was using the Nikon D3 with the 14-24mm f/2.8 lens Here is the camera: Nikon | D3 SLR Digital Camera (Camera Body) | 25434 | B&H Photo That was only a 30 second exposure, when I take a longer exposure of the Milky Way it looks like this: -Todd

A Planet, the Milky Way, & a Laser

Yo! The laser is red because I was out with my telescope and I use a red LED light to protect my night vision and I just illuminated the laser body like that so you can see where it is. But I sort of added too much light.... Thanks for the comments. -T

A Planet, the Milky Way, & a Laser

Yo, most remarkable dudes! Are all of you enjoying your lasers??? I had some fun with mine this evening. Took a 30 second exposure of the laser pointing into the sky, and yes I did check for aircraft before I turned it on. The bright star you see to the left of the photo is planet Jupiter, the...

    >200mW red pops ballon from 45 feet!

Hi all, I just uploaded this video (from my cell phone) and it is not the best video camera but it works in a pinch. I have the laser focused to infinity or to the wall and at 45 feet the spot is 1/8" in diameter but it evidently gets hot. here is the video: KjynizN4OJ8 It is a great laser...

    Optotronics 225mw question

Well the sweet spot of the laser is finding the temperature that it preforms best in. Like mine does really well at 65º and the cool body of the laser takes a while for it to warm up therefore it stays bright for several minutes. I bet after 4 minutes the body of your laser is pretty warm. if...

    Lithium Batteries are Awesome!

Hey dude, this is the meter I use: Ideal 400 AAC CLAMP METER W/ NCV TRMS - 131-61-736 - 131-61-736 at Wares Direct I set the votage to DC and get a reading by touching the leads to the +/- of the battery. It just has a AC/DC setting. -Todd

Beam shots of Optotronics 150mW pointer please?

Well it is in the house. It is even hard to see the neam of my 450mW green in the day outside. These lasers don't look too bright in the daytime, however you can see the spot really well.

    Optotronics 225mw question

I have the RPL 425 and it does the same in a similar way, you have to use these lasers cold or cool. Mine works well arount 68º~75º and keeps its power for five minutes or more. I have the adjustable tail cap, do you have this one also? If so put it on #7 and see how it works. It has a sweet...

Beam shots of Optotronics 150mW pointer please?

Well I don't have a night shot as of yet but I do have these: Beam comparrision of the 150mW vs the 50mW. The 150 is the black laser. Notice the reflection of the two lasers, the 50mW barely has a reflection. And one with some match smoke in the room.

RPL 425 video....burning through CD case

Oh i see...no it won't hurt it at all, the beam will just reflect off of the mirrors and the beam does not change much. A camera flash focused through it is more impressive, I get a 20-inch beam of light that goes for miles. It is neat looking.

RPL 425 video....burning through CD case

What do you mean? Mess up the laser or the CD case. Well it definately burns a hole in the CD case in 4 seconds. That is pretty quick for a .5W laser. I'll get some photos of that later and post them. -T

RPL 425 video....burning through CD case

Yeah it is sooooo cool! Ever since middle school Lasers and science were always on my mind. I saw my first green laser at a Foreigner concert in the 80's and I saw that the spot on the wall and it looked really fuzzy, I always wondered why laser light looked fuzzy. I went to the library (Yes the...
