Capacitors also mess up modulation in projectors... The lasorb only kicks in when a spike above the threshold appears. otherwise, they have no effect on modulation and performance. The lasorb is wired in parallel with the LD, so "gounding" is not an issue and you *could* use them in portables...

Kiyoukan, I installed the new 445 in Axiz housing with glass lens in my heatsink today, wired the driver and nothing... I unscrewed the Axiz housing and what do you know, the LD is wired in reverse. Red lead to -v black lead to +v..... Swapped the wires and wooosh! Lucky it handles reverse...

Cool. You wont regret it. I would try that ribbon at around 650-700F. Sensitive parts like cooler temps, however too cool and you need the heat on there longer. It is a double edge sword.
