    My 445 build

It looks like my response has already been made for me. It made sense at the time. And yes, when I dial down the power the beam shape is quite different.

    My 445 build

Well measuring the beam width @ 1.2W is not easy! I gave up and instead fired the laser up for 10 seconds with a piece of pine sitting 1" from the lens. Measured burn mark is 3x1mm.

CrazyJays Review of the Radiant Alpha meter

Hell, I decided long ago I won't even bother going to my funeral, too much fun to be had with all them virgins in heaven!

    My 445 build

Cool, will do. The beam size at the aperture is pretty large IMHO, it's an A140 in one of Dave's brass mounts with Axiz glass lens. I will measure the beam size tonight. My DT30's are fitted with the smaller mirrors, 5x10x0.8mm so I am concerned the beam may be too large. BTW, I recall reading...

    wlaser site is up

LOL, I checked out the specs of the 150mW 532 module, it states output power is < 5mW. WTF?

Damn it, Days of Our Lives is on this channel too? <switches channel again!>

    My 445 build

Hi Andy, more of knife edging. As I have a few FS mirrors that Dave provided to me, all I need is a few mounts and away I go right? So I can Knife Edge just 2 x 445nm K@S10 LD's fitted with Azis glass right? Are telescopics also required? If so, where can I obtain them from?

    Random Link Bandit stikes again

I did not ask. Here is the speaker in question. View the Nautilus speakers at Bowers & Wilkins - The World I want a set of woofers like these, appeals to my sense of humor!

    Random Link Bandit stikes again

I spotted a similar set in Hong Kong at the electronics show. They look awesome in real life, but alas they where not wired up. The name given "Nautilus". Very fitting.

Warning letter gotten from C***O in re 445s

I do not see how harvesting parts from something you buy could be against the law. Just curious, is there any mention of removing the casing or replacing parts in the manual? Typically there is and the consequences of doing so are typically stated as "will void warranty". I have never seen a...

Now this is what I call dedicated! I wonder how they sound? They sure look cool! Google Translate

Simple Laser Power Meter Using IR Thermometer

Not quite. What I mean is this, if someone with a LPM can confirm what xyz mW confirmed by LPM relates to in lux then perhaps we could have a method that is reliable... In the end, I am sure me and others will just admit defeat and buy an LPM. Care to offer me a good deal? Wayne.

    Challenge: cool experiments with 445nm

I have a cool experiment in mind, I just need to collect enough mirrors, then I'll post the results. Hint: your typical smoke and mirrors trick. :)

    My 445 build

Yes! I saw similar on PL and did not realise this was knife edging! I was thinking that knife edging involved a sharp edge cutting the beam lol..... Many thanks.

Simple Laser Power Meter Using IR Thermometer

Just thinking aloud, how about using a photographic lux meter with low power lasers? Can the power be correlated to LUX? If so, could the actual power of a moderate power laser then be determined and then used to determine the calibration value for the IR meter?

    Mistake

Yawn. Life is short guys. Agree to disagree and build a bridge.

    445nm Laser Diode Compilation Thread

Re: 445nm Casio Laser Diode Compilation Thread Just recapping, in an excellent heatsink (lab style) what do you consider to be the maximum drive current for long CW life for both 130 and 140 diodes? Cheers.

    Mistake

I admire your posting this. I deliberately avoided the whole hoo-har over this as I don't have time for bun-fights in meat-space, let alone this space. It takes a real man to apologize. Grats. +1 for this.

    We need some steampunk hosts...

Simply awesome! It is nice to see a laser in anything but the usual host... +1

Simple Laser Power Meter Using IR Thermometer

I tried this last night. My results with a 445 at 1000mA yielded only 212VmW (Vaporizer milli-watts). The paint was burning off.
