    My $100 mistake /w pictures

The FMP3 is a constant current driver so no matter what the load is the current will stay the same. For the same reason I think that a current spike is not possible. If you connect a DMM in amps mode and set the current, then this is the current it outputs no more no less regardless of load. If...

    My $100 mistake /w pictures

I rarely use the spring that sits between the LD and the lense. I saw somewhere on here that you can buy springs that sit on the outside of the module (aixiz). Usually I just throw the spring away and use teflon tape instead on the threading of the lense.

    My $100 mistake /w pictures

Am I misunderstanding something about the FMP3? The current as far as I know stays the same regardless of the load, or at least thats what it seems to be doing. The current is set without testload etc. and the value it is set for is the same when a load is actually connected. Thats how the ones...

Whats a safe ma to test out unknown LD's?

I spend 30$ on the one I am using and it has served we well so far. Getting a proffesional soldering station may be overkill depending on how often you use it. I have linked the one I have below. I bought it in 2010 and has had no issues with it so far. Its from a danish retail electronics store...

Whats a safe ma to test out unknown LD's?

Jinx! I strongly recommend that you go spend a few $ on a new soldering iron, or at least a decent tip for it. That thing you are using is huge and not suited for delicate electronics like this hobby calls for

Whats a safe ma to test out unknown LD's?

Can you post a picure of the ld with heatsink? I suspect its similar to the heatsink that you extract from a LPC sled, and if so you can use a couple of pliers to twist the heatsink off. If it is similar it will break incredible easy as the aluminum is very fragile. What I actually do myself is...

Whats a safe ma to test out unknown LD's?

I agree with Eud that you can skip the variable resistor however if you want to use your driver as a test psu then it does come in handy. If you are making the driver -> LD as a 1-1 relationship there is no need to put it in there. However you will need to get the calculation correct since there...

Whats a safe ma to test out unknown LD's?

If you pulled those LDs from 16xburners I would suspect that 200mA is a safe current to drive them at. However you could set it to 150mA just to make sure that they lase as expected. Regarding the DDL driver - It will only let the voltage through that is actually consumed since the LM317 is a...

    Laser Googles, im NEW!

Regarding the floaters - I have had them myself and what the doctor told me, might not be entirely correct translated since he told me in Danish, was that it was a common entopic phenomenon and is caused by irregularities in the vitreous body inside the eye. It is common and nothing dangerous at...

We have all been there, some just a long while ago

    Laser Googles, im NEW!

Calling a beginner a noob is not very nice and makes you seem like a proper ahole. Noob is a negative word like when I call you a little ignorant kid. Try to help with information instead. As an alternative you can have a look at this selection: Laser goggles : Zen Cart!, The Art of E-commerce...

need some explanation on DAC and making ur own

You will need a correction amp! I have the Audiolase myself and a cmedia sound card. You have to follow the instructions in the tutorial, but it will be challenging with a different sound card. You can not hook the galvos, and lasers for that matter, to to a soundcard without a correction amp...

laser still problematic after new battery!

Nice :-) Im glad you had such a good experience with o-likes professional aftersale support. And even out of warranty and they still did that little extra to get a satisfied customer. I often recommend them here at LPF and this just shows that I can keep doing that knowing that they still live...

    Problem with my LM317 driver

The voltage that the PHR draws is not equal to the LPC diode which will result in a different mA output than what you read out for a LPC diode over the 1ohm resistor. Did you set your testload to counter for the difference? And as Things said ^ anything above 100mA will fry your diode so its...

    First build not sure

Welcome to the forum, hope you will enjoy your stay. Before you make a pointer you could start by building a LM317 based driver and hook it up to a LPC-815 or 826. It is a fun entry level project and should give you good understanding and raise your soldering skills. It costs next to nothing...

    SALE: 1.3W 445nm C6 + accessories!

You should have specified that in the op, the value exceeds your asking price then, and that is not a bad deal. The tube itself is 20usd (ish)

    WTB PBS mount

Thanks for the link Andy. This was not quite what I was looking for, at least not at that price range. I can buy the regular sized mounts similar to the ones you sell on your website for 25USD from SpaceLas, compared to 29GBP for the ones you have. Was hoping someone had a spare in that...

    WTB PBS mount

Hi all. Does anyone have a spare PBS mount that they do not use and maybe are willing to sell? I have an option to buy one for 30 british pounds but that is a bit more than i am willing to spend. Please write to me on this thread or PM. Best regards

    lookin for some diodes :p

I buy my reds from Drew @ Modwerx and 445s from DTR here on LPF. Both are always nice to deal with. Regarding the combination a PBS will not do you any good. I am not sure about broadband coated PBS cubes, but would imagine they are very expensive. The ones I have seen so far are coated either...

    Buying a laser here

Jerry did you see how few actually joined in on that poll? And that other link... I never said there were no young people here, and that link is not representative because he actually seems like a young one with enough grey matter between the ears to not just go ME WANNA BURN STUFF :) The...
