    installing diode into aixiz housing

I just used a big old pair of pliers. I pressed it in with a little force on one side, rotated the thing, pressed the diode down on the other side a little, repeat, repeat, repeat until it's flush with the housing. Don't crush the pins or the lens. That should go without saying, but you never...

    Pocket sized PHR-803T Success!

Inspired by the 1AA Blu-ray I purchased from TheMonk. This is my first attempt at building my own laser. I used a PHR-803T from the Geeks.com HD-DVD drive mounted in an Aixis housing, a Dr. Lava Flexdrive set at 95ma. Running on one RCR123A battery. The host is a DX 6watt Luxeon I bought last...

    Woo tiny blue-ray complete!

Get ready to recharge that battery often. I'm using a PHR-803t diode paired with the lava drive in a 1xCR123A body running at 95ma. I only get about 10 minutes of on-time before I hit the 2.5v cut off and the diode starts blinking. Not a big deal, but it sucks down batteries fast! :)

    PHR-803T for about $20

I'm trying to figure out how this would work in a pen setup. How do you use the case connection pin? Let's say that the case is going to act as the negative terminal, like in green dpss lasers. Would you solder the case pin to the negative pin and the positive pin the the driver positive out...

Lava Micro FlexDrive Driver (lavadrive2) fits pens

Re: Lava Micro FlexDrive Driver (lavadrive2) fits drlava... I placed my order through Google Checkout on May 28th. Google checkout says it still has not been shipped. Are the low range drivers back-ordered? Thanks

    the perfect portable laser

I should clarify. The LaserBox is an awesome design. But, I was looking for a 650nm open can burner, the same size and dimensions as a DX 1AA flashlight. Superpocketable burner, tough aluminum shell. The LaserBox is too nice to get all dusty and bumped around in a pocket :) Once things slow...

    What is a mode hop?

My X105 sometimes starts out in TEM01. But after a little warmup the beams snap back together and burn the heck out of everything. Usually only happens on low batteries. It's fascinating to see two perfectly parallel beams coming out of the same aperture.

    the perfect portable laser

It would be a nice touch but I'm happy with popping eneloops into a charger. The DX 200mw is nice for the price, but it's still big and I wish it ran off of AA's. If you're suggesting that you have a 1xaa pocket sized red burner, or one in the works, count me in as a buyer. Seriously.

Sure Electronics 5mW 650nm Laser Module

I always felt slightly guilty destroying the perfectly good Aixis diodes for the housing.

Why don't you think DX is good?

I've ordered several flashlights from them and been happy with everything. It's just painful waiting so long for new toys to arrive! Just when you start forgetting that you ordered something from DX, is when it will show up.

    3 New Videos

Those IR lasers are just so phenomenally dangerous!! All that power, invisible <shudder> Great vids, great music. It's nice to hear something different than the obligatory death metal "destroy destroy" music so often associated with laser vids.

    the perfect portable laser

I'd just like 200mw of red from 1AA. Is that asking too much? Can someone go ahead and hook that up for me? :D

    1xAA Blu-Ray from Ebay

If this is as easy as removing the LED emitter and soldering in the blu-ray diode, then we could be on to a really cheap setup here. $6 for the light from DX, and $10 (+$15 for shipping) for a busted XBOX 360 Blu-ray drive from Tech Graveyard on Ebay. Add an Aixis housing, some Eneloops, time to...

Review: Dragon Lasers' Spartan BP 40mW 473nm

Man I want one of those SO bad!! These days I have to pour most of my "laser cash" into my gas tank though :-/ Nice pics, thanks for putting it next to the RPL for comparison.

    1xAA Blu-Ray from Ebay

It looks as sturdy as most 1xaa cree flashlights on DX. The anodizing looks perfect and there are no noticeable tooling marks. The coil spring in the tailcap is a little flimsy compared to a Fenix, but doesn't detract from the looks or function. The switch is a standard clicky. The rubber button...

    1xAA Blu-Ray from Ebay

Sure thing, here's the link to one he's selling right now: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&Item=130221165724&Category=149984&_trksid=p3907.m29 The seller's name is lsing2. I asked him some questions before purchasing it and the guy was really nice and responded quickly. He even...
