    GB #2: LaserMan (Dinodirect) FireDragon 250, 300, 500mW GroupBuy - CLOSED

^^^^ Cheech, you are one lucky SOB.... :) Others had issues with theirs and you get two good overspec ones. Oh well, you win some, you lose some.... I once had the same thing happen. I bought an electric violin for my wife for christmas and I ended up recieving two. haha

Nice work! :gj: I especially like the greenie.. :)

    First 445!!!

I agree ^^^. It can be difficult to get a nice finish with all of the knurling and such. I wonder if he media blasted it first...

Get a load of these dips**ts...

No, its not actually an Arctic. Its just an Aurora C6 build similar to a Yob 445. They are just idiots that got banned from here a few times, I believe

    First 445!!!

I did not paint the host. He works at a collision repair center as a glass technician. One of the auto painters there did it for him. ;) I did machine the diode heatsink and removable driver sink, modify the host, build it and meter it for him. :) I gotta say, it's one of my favorite builds...

    >1W build with custom driver

Nice writeup :gj: I'm interested in those drivers, as well. we are always interested in a new driver, especially a boost driver. :thanks: for sharing!

Using a battery charger to power a diode...would it work?

Watch with "wall warts". Their labelled voltage and current are notoriously wayyy out of spec. Plus they may have voltage/current spikes. I wouldn't do it unless you are ready to kill a diode with a slim chance of survival...

Inexpensive, decent correction for 300mW Mitsubishi 635nm laser @ 94% transmission

Yea. Lol. :D It wasn't anything exciting...just a handful of SMD resistors. ;) I hope it was an error, though.

Inexpensive, decent correction for 300mW Mitsubishi 635nm laser @ 94% transmission

Ah ok, thanks for clearing that up, Clip. I was always told I could not get a tracking # for priority packages going international. However, I print my postage... Funny story about the "LJ" customs codes; I ordered some components from Moh earlier this week. USPS sent me a notification saying...

Gauging interest in diode socket GB

I'm with Jerry on his one... Those sockets are for testing, not a final build. I don't even know if I'd trust them for testing. A socket may create more resistance compared to a nice, solid solder joint. Just my $.02

My First attempt at making a DIY Aluminum Host

Awesome job on your first attempt. :gj: I expect to see good things from you. ;) X2 on using oil when threading/tapping Aluminum. Once aluminum gets "gummed" in between the threads of a tap, it is very difficult to remove it. (Especially on fine threads, such as M9 X 0.5) I like to use Tap...
