    Low M140 output @ 1.05A output. (UPDATE PAGE 2)

Re: DTR's M140 output sucks & 1.05A output. Anyone good at troubleshooting? It was one of these drivers: AMC7135 1050mA Regulated Circuit Board for DIY Flashlights 10-Pack - Free Shipping - DealExtreme I figured a perfectly current limited buck circuit was a no-brainer. I'm good with...

    Low M140 output @ 1.05A output. (UPDATE PAGE 2)

Re: DTR's M140 output sucks & 1.05A output. Anyone good at troubleshooting? It was not a zombie on arrival, and it still doesn't seem like one now. Judging by the work he did, it looked like he took all of the precautions, including soldering the leads together for shipment. I thought the...

    Low M140 output @ 1.05A output. (UPDATE PAGE 2)

I am using a driver with 3x AMC7135 current limiting chips, outputting 1.05A. To ensure the forward voltage wasn't too low, I used 2x primary CR123's for testing at around ~6v The tailcap current measurement is accurate. Yet, my output is barely over 100mW on my coherent laser meter. Any...

    The laser diode will break?

I assume the mW rating is at the laser meter, and the rest of the power is wasted as heat. Correct me if I am wrong. 4.2v * 900 mA would be 3.78 watts. That would mean you're only getting an efficiency of 25% at 950 mW output.

Took apart new DLP tv. Optics treasure trove, or bust?

Just checked ebay. The only one that looked to be the exact same sold at 32.97+$8 shipping from China here: beam splitter cube prism 30mm | eBay I will do it for the $25+ shipping, seems pretty fair. Or perhaps we can work out some sort of deal if you have an extra 445nm diode lying around...

Took apart new DLP tv. Optics treasure trove, or bust?

I'm not really understanding you. You said mine is small, and then you say to rip apart a rear projection TV to get a "huge" cube out of it... but that's where I got this one from. It's from a newer large rear projection DLP TV. I'm not trying to hold out or anything, calm down. I am happy...

Took apart new DLP tv. Optics treasure trove, or bust?

Haha, I just checked out ebay and the price range is ridiculous. The one I have seems to be huge by comparison. I have an older coherent laser meter and red/green/bluray lasers. Would you like me to do any particular tests with it?

Took apart new DLP tv. Optics treasure trove, or bust?

I have no idea what the dichroic beam splitters are worth. It's pretty huge, I can pull out the digital calipers to measure if you want. Could you give me a ball park idea? I will let it go cheaper than whatever the going rate is. I can't see myself using it any time soon.

Took apart new DLP tv. Optics treasure trove, or bust?

Power supply is definitely good. Not sure what I would use it for though. I've already got a variable filtered D/C power supply for testing along with every type of power supply imaginable lol.

There's a nifty beam splitter in there used to split white into three colors. Anything worthwhile you guys see?

Current limits of actively cooled A140 (and variant) diodes? (below freezing)

Has anyone done testing of extremely well cooled diodes? I'm talking on the order of 15 degrees F. What are the limits of this diode's output with this type of cooling? I realize that the output is not linear as driving current increases. At what point do gains become negligible? Thanks!

Laser display made in 15 minutes (video)

It's really hard to quantify this sort of thing. I'm the kind of guy who rips things apart and stores things for future possibilities. I got an industrial filtered variable DC power supply from a garage sale for $5, which powered many of the lasers. We ordered a bunch of "5mW" reds in bulk...

Laser display made in 15 minutes (video)

I'm genuinely curious how a cap would increase voltage rather than what I described. Could you explain this to me?

Laser display made in 15 minutes (video)

That's pretty much the schematic there. Very simple 4 diodes wired in series together like I said. The motor was pulled from a side view mirror on an old ford explorer. The reflector was just a piece of broken CD. We mounted it to a spring of a pen for added wobble. He does know that. I...

Laser display made in 15 minutes (video)

We essentially built a rectifier. I'm new to electronics and I don't know the formal language for things in the field of electronics, but I think a lot about how to accomplish tasks. My friend is an electrical engineer. I basically proposed the idea to make A/C current useful to a D/C motor...

DIY: How to build a ~100mW Violet Laser

The diode from that sled handles 100mW? Is this short burst only? Far from cw, right?

    Video comparing green to bluray

OOOH. Haha. Yeah, it's just paint flaking off. I'm too lazy to remove it all, but it will come off eventually and the plain brass housing will be left. :)

    Video comparing green to bluray

Ehh, it's an ancient 50mW "billy" pointer from kaidomain that i've dropped on concrete and generally beat up for half a year. With a full charge it puts out a true 55mW green and it works great for nighttime astronomy, which is all I wanted it for really. I agree the scattering is bad though.
