    300mW Green in pen case?

Ok i've dug out some small IR filters i had, so i've done a little experiment, have a look and see what you conclude? HERE

    445nm and 473nm Laser Diodes

Ok let's take a vote, who's the most loaded here? And also has a VERY good antistatic strap!! :D

    300mW Green in pen case?

I thought of that, that's why i took along my 50mW NewWish, and that showed 48.2mW. So i can only assume a portion of the 330mW was IR, even though he said it was filtered. Does anyone know how to disassemble these spymodex type units? Doesn't look as easy as the NewWish type that just pull out...

Alternate use for a PSP case!

Well I had to think of something to house a few pointers in one case! Case is half price in Argos, £4.99. Add an old piece of foam and Bob's your father's brother!

    300mW Green in pen case?

Well if i can prove this is chucking out IR i can do him thru paypal under the "not as described" option, as he states they are now filtered.

    300mW Green in pen case?

It quotes a 60sec on - 10sec off duty cycle. Which i can believe, as if i hold it on for more than a min it starts getting warm! Anyway, what of this "new model with IR filter" quote of his? Cos if it hasn't i'll have him straight away on description!! ?

    300mW Green in pen case?

No, it was a... can't remember, thorlabs or something, it's on the listing i linked to. Oh and it draws 420mA, which seems a little low to me for the 300mW claimed!

    445nm and 473nm Laser Diodes

Follow my link to the datasheets, see what you think? (the 473 is only up to 50mW i think, but in 445 there's a 500mW)

473nm Blue Pointer in Pen Style Case!

What sort of power meter can i get that's half decent, for say a couple of hundred quid? Nothing i bet !!?

    445nm and 473nm Laser Diodes

Any idea if 445 and 473nm diodes are being utilised in any products yet? Be a while before we can afford them though I imagine, $2800 for an engineering sample of an NDB7112E 500mW 445nm diode from Nichia apparently! At least there'll be no "IR" arguments like there are with DPSS! Look the...

    300mW Green in pen case?

Bought one of these recently on fleabay, i think most of you will probably have heard of the seller, and straight away i know you're all looking at the link and screaming in horror! Yes I know, I was mugged probably! But - he makes two statements - "guaranteed 300mW unmodified", and "new 2008...

473nm Blue Pointer in Pen Style Case!

No I didn't buy it for the power, i bought it for the fact it's a blue! I'm just waiting for 445 and 473nm diodes to get into full swing in this market, then there'll be no "IR" arguments! Be a while yet though, $2800 for an engineering sample of an NDB7112E 500mW 445nm diode from Nichia...

473nm Blue Pointer in Pen Style Case!

I'm assuming these CNI are essentially Aquarius, as when i click on retailers in the CNI website it shows Laserglow in the list. USA i think. Does yours draw 1.2A too?
  14. S

473nm Blue Pointer in Pen Style Case!

As I said, I'm not particularly worried that it's not 50mW, or anywhere near it. It's a nice bright spot, visible beam at night / subdued daylight, and it was 200 quid. Which in UK at least is a good price for a blue handheld, if indeed you can get one at all ! :)
  15. S

473nm Blue Pointer in Pen Style Case!

To be honest i did doubt 50mW, but I'd say for what i paid i did reasonably ok to get a blue pointer at all?!
  16. S

473nm Blue Pointer in Pen Style Case!

True. Any ideas why its drawing 1.2A? At 3% efficiency, even 30mW would only need a 1W IR diode @ 3v (drawing about 350mA i believe) ? Or is it the fact it's Qswitching that's fooling my dvm perhaps?
  17. S

473nm Blue Pointer in Pen Style Case!

Paid £228 inc secure delivery by the way.
  18. S

473nm Blue Pointer in Pen Style Case!

Well, I'm not sure either, but here's one of the seller's pics - Like you say, it could peak quite high, and the photo only shows a split second of its output of course!
  19. S

473nm Blue Pointer in Pen Style Case!

My new blue pointer has arrived, bought from a Laser importer in Italy and sent to me in UK. It's 50mW, although I've not been able to confirm as I don't have a power meter - yet! I'm told it's a CNI - which by checking on the CNI site I assume is a GLP-473. Also looks exactly the same as the...

    DVD diode maximum currents

Just curious to know if there's any guides out there that could indicate nominal/maximum currents by the max burn speed of the drive they're taken from? I know every diode is different, but just rough figures of what you'd drive the diode at from different speeds of drive, as when most people...
