    DIY driver problem

I have never professionally worked with electronics such as these, only in hobby projects and such, and I have never had a problem with different watt resistors. But with lasers things need to be precise and you have to do things a bit more carefully, so to be on the safe side I am not gonna...

*BOUGHT* Custom 445 Laser from Flaminpyro!! *PIC HEAVY*

I believe this belongs in the review section.

    DIY driver problem

I ran the driver with a test load for about 3 minutes just to see how hot the LM317 got and the resistors seemed fine. But I will replace them when I get the chance to a higher wattage just to be safe.

    DIY driver problem

The only ones I got on hand are 1/4W. What is the 3W needed for?

    DIY driver problem

So only 1.56 ohms is needed to get .8A?

    DIY driver problem

Problem solved. I feel as dumb as I did after watching kipkay's video.

    Sign the petition please

What exactly is signing this petition going to potentially lead to down the road? I really don't get it. And why this women? This probably happens all the time in the middle east, this one just happened to be caught on tape. Is this a stand for her or for all that have suffered similar brutality?

    Yet another 445nm labby

Sorry, you have an awesome office ;) I only found one with a solid piece of copper in it. The new ones are pretty much overkill like you said and can get relatively expensive. But as for the P3 sized ones they are very difficult to find a steady source of, even at escrap recycling places (at...

    Yet another 445nm labby

I just pulled a heatsink out of an old pentium 3 PC and it has a solid rod about 1" and a half in diameter of copper in the middle that then feeds heat out to the beefy aluminum fins. I do see these a lot and I usually save them for computer purposes but since I don't run Pentium 3's (in fact I...

    Laser noob needs HELP!

Speaking to someone in real life is totally different, that is the way I speak to people outside of the internet and with tone and what not I can get across. I do apologize if I did cost anyone a diode, just shoot me a pm. Peace?

    Laser noob needs HELP!

If you say so. Maybe I should have just told him to find a post by Morgan and follow the links in his sig. I guess that would be the way to properly do things. EDIT: You apparently didn't understand that it was a joke I'll edit the first post just to avoid further problems. My way of getting a...

    Laser noob needs HELP!

You have a few different options at this point. Number two is to either get a host or something to hold the components inside and a driver to regulate current to the diode. Look in the Laser pro shop at either the flex drive or micro drive. There are many combinations of hosts and drivers and...

Brain Storming: Will you be the next laser pointer designer?

I personally don't mind flashlight host lasers, I in fact prefer them because they are cheaper :D But as said before if you could produce stable, up to spec lasers at your current prices you would be overwhelmed by orders. If one guy down in California can produce enough superb quality...

Request an audience with the Solder gods on LPF

I am not sure if it's mentioned but variable power and variable temperature are two different things. I bought a variable power station by mistake and I still prefer to use my soldering pencil instead. One will allow you to adjust the watts the iron receives thus giving the operator no actual...

    SOLD: 2 @ 445nm >950mW

Re: FS:2 @ 445nm >950mW IMHO a 1000mw laser laser less then $500 is cheap. This is about as good of a deal as your gonna find, aside from Yobresal.

    Trading HeNe 632nm

Up for sale today is a "half" bare tube HeNe that I acquired from Dave about a year ago. It has been fired up once since then and has been sitting on my shelf the rest of the time. I now want to build a 445 and since this never gets used it could help off set the cost a bit. It is 632nm and...

So I dissassebled a whole bunch of DL DVD burners at work today

My bad, I meant to say in my first post 24X. I knew they looked familiar.

So I dissassebled a whole bunch of DL DVD burners at work today

I believe some members in the past found diodes similar to that in 22X dvd burners when they first appeared on the market. Maybe if a more knowledgeable member see's this they can inform you further on the specifications of the diode, but those do look damn close to the 22X ones. Maybe a search...
