Game: Guess the mystery object !

I've got one ready now. :D @millirad, a fancy three person microscope type thing?

Game: Guess the mystery object !

The second one looks like a collapsible tire iron. Edit: Dang it, beaten.

I'm afraid to ask this at CPF...

Don't get it bored? I think AW makes a 17670 cell, they fit in the stock 6P body. I'll probably be using 17670s if I get an XM-L P60 for one of my 6Ps. I've also got a stock Winelight II that's on it's way, also 17670. I'm gonna leave that incan though, get a nice strong bulb in it. </offtopic>

    SOLD: 635nm 300mW C-Mount Diode w/ FAC Lens

Re: 632nm 300mW C-Mount Diode w/ FAC Lens - Sad to sell :( Just wondering, where you planning on this being a portable?

    SOLD: 635nm 300mW C-Mount Diode w/ FAC Lens

Re: 632nm 300mW C-Mount Diode w/ FAC Lens - Sad to sell :( Wow, that's quite a lens, was it just one you had lying around or did you order it as just a 10" FL lens? What kind of duty cycle are you expecting with the size of that heatsink, coupled with the TEC?

    SOLD: 635nm 300mW C-Mount Diode w/ FAC Lens

Re: 632nm 300mW C-Mount Diode w/ FAC Lens - Sad to sell :( I'm interested but a)I don't have the money and b)I have a half watt rated 635nm 9mm diode from Boston Laser Industries already. Anymore pics from your portable 635 as of yet, Mike?

$29 laser diode (not a diode bar) that is 10 Watts?!?

This probably has a CW power of <100mW. Pulsed diodes are pretty common, and can have high peak power, as this does. I've seen 70W peak diodes in a tiny package on Osram's site, if memory serves they didn't even have a metal can.

I think you're underestimating lumens here, especially with dark adapted eyes. I've got an SST-50 (Thru-Nite Catapult V1) here and at night the thing is damned bright, almost too bright for some stuff. Unless you're looking for a serious searchlight, I'd avoid the SST-90. They produce a lot more...

cheap, AAA powered, ~20-30mw blue pen?

Drill a hole in a block of wood, about the diameter of the laser. Cut the block of wood in half, through the hole you previously drilled. Put the wood back together around the silver head of the pen. Put this whole setup into a vise and tighten the vise until the pen doesn't move. Rock the pen...

    [noob] Is this legit? [/noob]

The IR will burn...but may I ask why you need a less visible beam?

    [noob] Is this legit? [/noob]

For a starter laser IR is not what you want. It's nearly invisible and as such, even at as large a power as 220mW, will be very dim, deceptively so. The price is about right, but this is because low-powered (In this case 500mW and below) are somewhat inexpensive. I would go with New Style red...
