    Running a 445nm diode at 30mW

Get one of the eBay ItemQuickShip 405nm pens for $8. Their drivers work and are 200mA max. There's a thread about low powered blue pens somewhere that talks about it a bit more, and has a pic of someone who made one in this way. Edit: Found the thread...

    Batteries with LM317?

Well that wasn't really a green diode. Green diodes aren't even really beyond the testing phase for pico projectors, not that they don't exist, they just aren't widely available yet. Any green you get that you didn't pay thousands for is going to be DPSS or an argon line, but I digress. What...

    Batteries with LM317?

You're messing with just the IR diode or the whole module?

    Feeler: 4 Mode 445 driver

As rhd said, using fast clicking rather than simply clicking.

    Feeler: 4 Mode 445 driver

No. It's just that if you turn off the laser in one mode, an IC (I think) on the board remembers what mode it was in, so when you turn it on it stays in that mode and doesn't reset to low.

I want to make a flash light that burns

NiMh battery pack. It's 12 2/3AA cells. Battery life is abysmal, yes, but it's a really bright five minutes. :D

Spartan Series 50mW Orange Handheld Laser: $599.99

They're CNI resellers and have always treated people right.

    FAIL THREAD!!!!

You owe me 3:48 of my life back. The fail was so intense it prevented me from moving anywhere but back from my computer.

Propose with help of a laser?

Custom tips like that aren't cheap. Someone looked into them, and it was like $250 or more for a set, and over $1000 for a single one I think. Maybe I've got it backwards, but it was several hundred dollars for one, easily.

    FAIL THREAD!!!!

I think it was Volkswagen who also designed an electric van, but like with Ford, and later companies, until recently, electric vehicles haven't really been practical. The VW van was in the sixties or seventies, the seats were full of batteries, in that the whole van was pretty much a battery...

Game: Guess the mystery object !

Close enough. It's a builders transit for property surveying before building a home/staking out the corners of the home. I got to play with one last year, loads of fun. (An older one with lenses like the picture above, not a fancy new one)

Game: Guess the mystery object !

Close. Has to do with surveying. Carpenters know these well, well older ones would recognize this design more readily, the newer models look quite different. Nope.

Have at it! :D Edit: You can click it to zoom in.

    Best High Current Batteries?

Get IMR cells for high current draw. A123 Systems make 26650s that can withstand 70A current draw.

    FAIL THREAD!!!!

I'd have plowed right over that smarmy lighthouse. :D

The Improved and the Greatly Improved Arctic Mod

I remember those days. Do you happen to know how Igor is doing? The man could test some diodes, but I always got kind of concerned at how much of himself he put into this hobby. Last I heard he was recovering in the hospital from an injury to his hand.
