The Thermopile options are going to be much more reliaible and accurate for measuring power. Many good meters will come per-calibrated to adjust for variances between wavelengths (either automatically or with a simple equation). There are also a few users on this board that sell their own LPMs...

If my math is right 76 pounds of mercury is equal to 0.673 gallons, 29.57 fl oz, or 2547.14 ml. Hard to imagine that a gallon of mercury weighs just shy of 113 pounds.
