    WTB: 561nm or 565nm

well, i do have an old Melles YCA unit that is running weak that i put back together... but it wouldn’t be cheap even in its’ fairly well used and mismatched condition. What are you looking to spend?

    Coherent Genesis 577nm Laser (FINALLY)

Yeah there’s an oxygen and a moisture absorber inside. I’m pretty sure it’s an LBO or similar iirc. Likely chosen due to the high damage threshold and low cost. Opening one of these up for the first time it feels like a trying to pry open a vacuum seal. Not that I would ever encourage anyone to...

    Coherent Genesis 577nm Laser (FINALLY)

Yeah and to be honest depending on the lighting in the room sometimes it can look somewhat greenish at first glance too. But as you turn the power up it looks more and more yellow. The yellow spectrum and orange spectrum are really strange because they’re so small. The units are surprisingly...

    Coherent Genesis 577nm Laser (FINALLY)

Definitely alot more than your typical DPSS, but not a ton. Probably in the neighborhood of 100W. The diode is 1.8V or so at 30A at spec, plus the TECs would be 24V because they're in series, and typically run at an amp or two iirc. The little ones in the head are very small and probably are...

    Coherent Genesis 577nm Laser (FINALLY)

<Reserved Post> more pics: Note that the beamshots are at generally around half a watt to a watt of power, the only full-power-ish one is the one from behind shooting into the Ophir sensor, as it is the only thing I had at the time that I took these that can withstand the power without...

    Coherent Genesis 577nm Laser (FINALLY)

OK OK OK! I get it. You guys want to see this. I know I've been promising it for ages. I know I've been away....I kinda was out of the laser vibe for a while. Money has been short lately and I've not been able to work up the motivation to really do any major reviews and posts and such for a long...

Argon Ion Laser (Worth the Gamble?)

Not too shabby. Although I wouldn't trust the reading from the internals unless it's a matched head and power supply, as they have to be calibrated to one another IIRC. I know the Cyonics ones do. Looks like a gorgeous tube for a pretty good price. I love Melles Griot and Coherent stuff with a...

Argon Ion Laser (Worth the Gamble?)

Yeah I like the melles griot argons. the Cyonics models are nice too. I was actually selling mine, but I want a bit more than that for mine. I can look up the model properties for the one you got if you want. I have a list somewhere of most of them.

Argon Ion Laser (Worth the Gamble?)

It looks damaged. there looks like there's a chip on the HR end?

    Orange 607nm 170mW kvant Labby

yeah, honestly just a small passive aluminum heatsink is probably enough. I doubt it generates much heat at all. as long as the baseplate is around 25-30C then it's fine. 40 is not unreasonable but starting to push it. I wouldnt let it get hotter than that.

    Orange 607nm 170mW kvant Labby

Very nice. Yeah I really like my orange lasers. There's something really fun and fire-y about them. Especially the HeNe orange at 612nm or so. It's a nice burning red-orange, where 607 is a little more of a bright orange crayon color, and 605 ish it starts to rapidly turn yellow. it's amazing...

    B> YAG/KTP Mounts

I've used these...though I dont remember where i got mine. think i pulled it from a laser. though as a note...I'd do the push in holder on a flat side of the crystal...not the corner like in your 'drawing' lol. It's far easier to deal with. and Indium foil shouldnt be needed unless you're...

Convert a red HeNe to yellow

Yeah, that's always been my issue is that it's hard to get mirrors with a long enough ROC

Convert a red HeNe to yellow

Good for you man~ hit me up on removed sometime! I miss our conversations.

Convert a red HeNe to yellow

It's good to see you around again Bloom. I feel like I'm the only gas dude left alot of the time. WB. It's certainly doable. Just not easy nor likely....but it can certainly be done if there is enough gain available. It would likely call for some special mirrors with carefully selected/'oops'...

    685nm and 690nm laser diodes

Yeah I have one of the 690s from thorlabs, back when they were like $56 or something. Very good quality when paired with my good lab driver. I always liked the 690nm region of light. is a very dark and deep blood/ruby red color. 35mW is pretty good tbh, for that low into the red region...

    Remember to exercise those argons!

I've never seen an air cooled one with a gas reserve. All of them just have a gas ballast/extention. It doesn't add gas to the tube, just ensures there is enough at both ends of the tubing.

Convert a red HeNe to yellow

I've not tried for green, but I've gotten the others with a tuning prism. I don't have the optimal mirror curvatures for it sadly to make a really good attempt though due to how long the tube is.

    574nm 36 mW Yellow Laser

    I smell a GB opportunity

Helium Cadmium Laser Help (Omnichrome series 74)

Yeah the grey cloudiness is just cadmium dust that didnt condense in the condensing area and escaped the bore and into the larger tubing area. The entire front of it is covered in insulation, so it wanders back a little ways before it finds tube walling that is cool enough for it to settle on...
