Recommendation for a fun laser pointer.

Yeah, Yob's should be a great laser. As for your final sentence, could you rephrase that? I seem to be having trouble understanding the question. :yabbem: And I'll say it again, GET SOME 445nm OD4+ SAFETY GLASSES!

    Gone

Re: FS: Diodeless Projectors. Only 2 Left!!! Hmm, very tempted, what's the diffraction grating like? Turns beam into dots, right? Are the internal optics glass? It's still $35 USD shipped within the US, right?

Prive check on 500 mW LAser!

Do you have pictures, exacting specifications, a LPM reading or a original seller source? All those would make it vastly easier for us to give you a ballpark figure of how much its worth.

1-1.3 watt 445nm Laser Packages **ONLY $190 SHIPPED IN THE US**

^^ Just mentioning that I'm loving my laser and extended focusing ring :). Any plans for a 532nm laser kit in the future?

    Buying custom 532nm 200mW

    Don't forget safety goggles!

    150$

Seeing as you don't seem to know what you are talking about, I'd recommend a 200mw or so greenie and some good safety goggles. Make sure the laser is focusable if you want to burn with it, and a IR filter is a good idea too.

    Goggles

445nm OD4+ goggles for all within 100 feet of laser is a must if you want to use it around other people. Shiny surfaces reflect enough light to give you temporary flash blindness, and even permanent damage. If it directly hits ANYONE'S eyes, even for a fraction of a second, 99.99% of the times...

    Best laser for 200$?

I highly recommend the SL I 1.1W 445nm. Survival Laser Home Glasses might make you need to stretch your budget a bit though. (Yes you need them, don't even think of using it without glasses). Seeing as you only have 5mw greenies though, I'd say a 200mw greenie and some good glasses might be a...

Who Leaves Their Batteries Unattended to Charge?

Everything but Li-Po are charged normally, whenever, wherever. However, I used to do a bit of RC heli flying as a hobby, and as a result I am pretty cautious with the batteries used in that-- I charge all Li-Po batteries in a LipoSack (kevlar sack built to contain exploding LiPos). Although...

    New camera, better laser pics

Wow, nice pics! That reminds me, I need to get some good beamshots... What's the model of the camera?

Recommendation for a fun laser pointer.

It looks like this is his first laser, I doubt we should be telling him to get IR ones. @OP: Check out Survival Laser or Yob's builds if you want something with lots of power. (and get some safety glasses!!)

    Which laser should i get?

Then the Optotronics one should work best, unless you really want to burn, in which case the 445nm would work better.

[HELP] Need someone to send HP TouchPad

They seem to be sold out everywhere I look :\.
  14. JohnTheRipper

    Which laser should i get?

For everything but burning, that E3 would fit the ticket (green>blue for visibility).
  15. JohnTheRipper

    Which laser should i get?

What do you want to do with this? Burning, pointing, star gazing? Or what?

    Aloha!

Kauai? So jealous... Welcome to the forums!

Do you carry your laser as self defense at night?

I rarely walk around at night, but I'd bet either 100-200 lumens to the face (Cree flashlight), or my 1.1 Watt blue beast (ouch) would work pretty well as a deterrent... To be honest, using my minor skills in karate would work better than a light/laser to the face, as it's trivial to...

    Noobie Questions and concerns

I also would love to see a "pro" safety course/presentation video. As for glasses/goggle, they are needed for anything over 5mw, and they need to cover your laser's wavelength and power (for example, my 445nm SL 1.1 Watt needs glasses that cover 445nm and have a OD of 4 (to be exact, it's...

How long can those portable lasers operate?

Quite a few have duty cycles... Well, at least all the handheld 200+mw lasers I've noticed have duty cycles. If we're talking about lab/fixed lasers, then yeah, that's quite right. But most handhelds have duty cycles with a few exceptions. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong!

TRADE: one host for Photoshop image edit

Hmmm... I can't guarantee anything, but I'd be willing to take a look. Shoot me a PM with project info, and I'll see if I can do it (might take a day to complete if I even can do it).
