Just got these IR dump diodes

Still if you'll ever be throwing them out, I'll find a good home for them.

Just got these IR dump diodes

the 92% get transmitted, 2*4% reflected. Most microscope slides are made from N-BK7 so should be fine

Just got these IR dump diodes

Ah, ytterbium laser. Not nearly as interesting anymore :( Not quarter. Fresnel reflection form glass at nearly 0AOI should be around 4%, so if you insert a single microscope slide into the beam, you should get 8% reflection, attenuating 400W to mere 32W. If your power meter can't handle that...

Just got these IR dump diodes

You don't need 400W power meter. just couple a bit of light out using microscope slide and measure that. Don't even try replacing fiber on them, you'll trash the module. Are this Md3+ or Yb3+ pumps? I guess the later

    Laser safety glasses

No, they don't. Maximum flashed, safe exposure is around 0.4mW. Even the shittiest lasers have >10mW of power. Will you bet your eyes that this glasses offer >1.5OD over entire aperture and spectrum?

    Laser safety glasses

Wtf are you guys talking about? Saving a bit of cash? You may as well not buy laser goggles to not have a feeling of safety. Single direct hit from some reflection and you may go blind in them (or may not but with both the tolerance and the specs you don't know).

    Laser safety glasses

Unless we get OD ratings and manufacturer's certification I'm reporting it before someone gets hurt.

    QuaLas arrays (numb12 modules)

Unlikely, unless we find some totally new materials to make them from. The AlInGaP and AlGaN can take only so much power density. If single emiter sources will have higher power they'll have even worse beam in slow axis

Small batch of 4A buck drivers coming soon in early October.

First of all you're right but also wrong. Yes X7R and X5R are obviously different dielectric material but the name specifies ONLY thermal properties. As a matter of fact if you open mouser and search for murata X7R caps is same package and same capacitance and look them up in murata's capacitor...

Small batch of 4A buck drivers coming soon in early October.

I mean X7R would be so much better than X5R here considering just how hot it runs. Not even saying that this is temperature rating, not hte most important parameter for switching mode converter. What's the efficiency, ripple and start-up curves?

How to tell when a laser is properly focused?

We sometimes work in lab with 4W average beams (femtosecond lasers) without googles if need we have to. We also like to wear glasses around HeNe if possible. That power doesn't really matter that much. Even 1mW beam can permanently damage your eyesight when collimated and mounted. I own a set...

    0.8% 5x8mm Nd:YAG crystal

I found a place that's willing to sell AR/AR coated cylindrical crystals d=5, l=8 for €80 if I order at least 5 pcs. Would anyone be interested?

Appropriate DPSS laser for DIY Raman?

You can ECDL your laser diode to get it into extremely narrow-band region

Looking to buy random "lab" parts

    What wavelength and power?

Drilling a hole in a first surface mirror

When cutting gratings in lab, we tend to blow the dust away constantly with dry nitrogen.

    ECDL setup with custom controller

Let's talk more about the controller. After a lot of code writing, I managed to power up almost everything and even implement the simplest possible control loop. Everything is controllable over USB with VISA and all settings are persistently stored in flash. All the bookkeeping (usb, interrupts...

Low voltage, HC driver for a coherent FAP module?

0.05C isn't that expensive in analog. Remember you don't need high precision not accuracy. It's actually far cheaper and simpler in analog than with arduino, just look at schematic of Verdi. The best way to measure current ripple is with current probe. The other option is to insert a small...

What is the current most strongest Infrared laser diode?

Did you both say proper and linked AliExpress in the same post? What you (probably) care about in CNC is highest possible brightness and this is very limited with laser diodes. If you're too budget constrainted to go for DPSS laser then I'd suggest buying highest power 50um emiter LD you can...

What is the current most strongest Infrared laser diode?

You always have coherent FAPs but divergence makes the less useful for CNC work
