That is not true. This app uses thin lenses because a thin lens has only one parameter, namely its focal lenght. To account for a thick lens one would need to enter the curvature of the front and rear side along with the thickness of the lens. Thicker lenses in general introduce less...

Re: Beam expander to focus laser bearm To have the same sensitivity the 10x expander should be about 3 times (10/3) longer than the 3x. This obviously not the case, so its is more sensitive. Make it longer (longer focal length lenses) reduces the sensitivity. Singlemode

I used sort of a clamp to press a conductor to the diodes area. Worked very well without soldering (you have just to make a rigid clamp). Since than I always clamp the lead of a C-mount. Singlemode
