    M462 -> Binoculars as a Beam Expander

    I had it focused to infinity so that the output from the binoculars was the same size across the entire length of the beam (as close as my judgement could make it, visually the spot looked the same on the wall as it did at the output of the binoculars). To focus it I just used the focus wheel...

    M462 -> Binoculars as a Beam Expander

    The penny used under the binoculars to level them out cost a pretty penny.

    M462 -> Binoculars as a Beam Expander

    Just some pics of a M462 running at quarter power through some Nikon binoculars that had been put to work as a beam expander and a picture of the very super extra high tech setup.

    OSRAM 60W multilaser chip with 24 beams - JLM450nm

    Power that sucker up and give us some pics and info on the behavior of the beams!!! :0)

    574nm DPSS 20mW

    If it was a direct diode it would be even more amazing since I'm pretty sure that technology hasn't been developed yet. Still though, if they really have a 574nm DPSS or *whatever* laser source in that thing for $250, that's pretty remarkable and certainly would currently be the cheapest source...

    De-Canned NUBM44-V2 (with pics)

    It's gonna fail like a Larry King marriage.

    My first build - 2W M140 diode laser

    I could understand why the decreased apparent brightness due to wavelength may have much more value in using a G2 for an M140 vs M462.. or if you usually have the beam confined to a short distance and divergence isn't as much a factor. That's wonderful that you have an unused M462, given they...

    My first build - 2W M140 diode laser

    My G7 was a bit tight to thread but I bought mine shortly after they were first made available by Podo so I'm not sure if that has been remedied. Since it required a bit of effort to get it in I ended up using a razor blade that I had filed the edge flat for safety to turn the lens, I was...

    My first build - 2W M140 diode laser

    I'm curious to see what you think of that diode through a G2 lens.. you'll gain 5% or so but I personally wasn't happy with the output that my M462, which has the same output divergence as the M140, was delivering through a G2. I ended up using a G7 and was happy with it (much happier than a 3...

    My new 6w+ with host Sunwayman T45C

    That's nice, could you detail what you're using to correct the beam? I'm not familiar with what a "1X lens" is referring to :-)

    20W lasers genuine?

    Currently, the highest real output power that you could expect to see for something suitable for CNC (diode based, at least.. gas is a very different story) would be ~12-13ish watts accomplished by combining the output of 2 NUBM44's with a wave rotator to achieve an alligned, undistorted output...

    NUBM31T 95W 455nm

    The conversation on this thread is well and good but I suspect that I speak for everyone in saying that this thread needs more pictures. Lots and lots more pictures- specifically of the unit when powered :) for science, and stuff

    Hey if you're trying to drain the capacitor(s?) between the regulator and the laser diode, that can usually be accomplished by simply turning the unit off.. if you want to drain all of the capacitors including the ones in the power supply (if it has one), disconnect the power source (unplug or...

    New! Sharp Diodes 1W 520nm & 5W 455nm & +2W 638nm

    Hey that's awesome, I'm happy to see that worked. Now I'm curious to see if a ~35mm fl colli as to split the difference still results in a reasonably tight beam with a smaller cross section size at the lens (thinking for applications focused to infinity) than the 1 inch@75mm fl that you're...

    New! Sharp Diodes 1W 520nm & 5W 455nm & +2W 638nm

    Hey CDBeam, did you try using a larger, non-threaded long focal length lens on the NUBM08 FAC? I'm curious if the issue is just that the beam isn't expanding enough before collimation.
