Re: what parts should i use to burn math and pop balloons ? If you're looking to build something simple, go to user DTR's laser shop. He sells plain diodes, diodes with drivers attached, diodes with drivers attached in a module and set in heatsink, or all the parts separately.

It's very upsetting that people being stupid with lasers gives the entire hobby community such a bad reputation. Hopefully this attitude isn't adopted by more countries in the future.

Running the NUBM07E at 3.5a to get 466nm - is it really that different in color than a 445, does that make it worth the more expensive diode? I'm looking into using one of these for my first build, probably going to purchase the NUBM07E with driver installed already from DTR.

Wow, very unique idea. It's interesting that you specifically mentioned wanting to make this a handheld laser. Most of the handheld lasers rely on physical heatsinking to get rid of the heat rather than actually using fans. What you're talking about building, fan-cooled and with the LCD temp...
