Solid Brass 638nm - Code Name "Frankie" (Pic Heavy)!

I might have come off a bit too harsh in the wording of the first comment I left. Please do forgive me as English really is not my native language. Although it is not an excuse for I went back to read my comment and it makes me sound like a rude asshole. A great point was made about how threads...

    Pen Laser Thread

Yeah I did that after posting the last picture. Here it is with the ring on it I also use the translucent boot to cover the laser from dust but it also allows me to see if the laser is accidentally turned on

    Laserlands 520nm 5mW, comparison with 532nm?

Yeah but once you know there's a yellowish glow you'll look for it and you can't unsee it... I see the laserglow as like thin and short strokes of green and yellow in between like the starry night sky painting

Sanwu Challenger II 488nm beam shots 150mw

OK good to know that it's not just me who sees the shift in color and I'm relieved to know Its not failing on me as that was my initial thought

    Laserlands 520nm 5mW, comparison with 532nm?

Doesn't 532nm dpss look green with yellowish glow? At least that's how it looks like to me when I compare 505, 515, 520, and 532

Sanwu Challenger II 488nm beam shots 150mw

@paul1598419 @RedCowboy thanks for sharing this info. I was thinking that the most logical explanation was that the ambient light was affecting my perception of the color. I'll make closer observations on comparing different lasers in different lighting conditions and backgrounds

Beautiful blue Lifetime17 host for PLTB450b

Awesome! I think I might need to stock up on some more lenses for future builds. One of the lenses I took the spacer out from, cracked after dropping a recent build I was trying out. Im gonna have to be more careful or not tighten the lense as much. I was buddy with a build this weekend so I did...

    Pen Laser Thread

Here's another laser pen built for my best friend/fishing buddy/coworker. This time with an m140 diode at what I would consider medium power at around 240mA I think. I don't have my digital multimeter I'm familiar with but the other I have was reading 0.24 in the voltage setting on the dummy...

Sanwu Challenger II 488nm beam shots 150mw

This is what it looks like when I mean it's turquoise in color. Although it looks more like a sky blue in this picture Sorry for the double Post

Sanwu Challenger II 488nm beam shots 150mw

Nice beam shots! Does it look exactly like this greenish color to your eyes? Could be my screen not replicating the correct color or the camera not catching the exact tint. I build one with a sharp diode and mine has a bluer shade to it but every once in a while it looks exactly like your...

Beautiful blue Lifetime17 host for PLTB450b

@Shotgundrums I did what you suggested, I took out the spacer and there's a significant difference, the wings are still visible when the laser is flat on a table or pointing at something really close (less than 6 inches) but it pretty much got rid of it while pointing it down long range. Thank...

Beautiful blue Lifetime17 host for PLTB450b

Thank you everyone who commented with suggestions. I will be trying out all suggestions and will post results as I see them

Beautiful blue Lifetime17 host for PLTB450b

@GSS sorry, maybe I did not use the correct word. There are 2 "wings" or splashes of light that come out exactly across from each other and the light has lots of power since I can feel heat from it. I do not belive it to be a dirty window and I am really amazed by the beam profile and sharpness...

    Pen Laser Thread

Hey Rich, I might have asked this before so I apologize in advance. Do you machine anything that takes 1 Or 2 10440 batteries? I'm interested in buying a handful (up to 10pcs) of similar hosts to make low power pointers in my favorite wavelengths. Looking to make them all around 120-150mw...

Beautiful blue Lifetime17 host for PLTB450b

@Lifetime17 thanks buddy, I'll be buying more hosts in the future and I really liked the diode as well, I wish I could get a tighter spot on the wall but it's better than the m140 diodes I'm used to @Shotgundrums yeah Its not really something I do often but I just wanted to see how well the...

Beautiful blue Lifetime17 host for PLTB450b

Yeah you're right, if I want to make builds that will last, I have to measure the current to properly set it for the diode being used. That said I felt comfortable enough to use it since I had previously used it on an A140 and then an M140 diode without killing them but nevertheless I'll...

Beautiful blue Lifetime17 host for PLTB450b

I set it to max current on the driver (resistors for my dummy load haven't arrived) although I don't really know the exact current but I will be turning it half way down since it does tend to heat up by the minute mark. Honestly, it was the best driver I had at the moment so I took it out of an...

Beautiful blue Lifetime17 host for PLTB450b

I'll have to buy a g2 then, what are your thoughts on a g7? I didn't know of this diode and came across it on fleebay. I love the color of it, anything 450nm I really like. I don't know if it's just me bur to my eyes there is a difference between some 450nm and 445nm diodes. Like the m140...

'Intro' threads--- the good the bad and the non-existent..... why bother?

Of course I haven't forgotten 😎👍 I just felt so proud of hearing that from a very respected member of the forum. Although I should stay humble instead of boasting haha Thank you and everyone else for all the help you give to everyone in this forum!

Beautiful blue Lifetime17 host for PLTB450b

@thanhtung thanks, I believe it to be one of my better builds but mostly because of lifetime17s host. @RedCowboy it does! That was exactly what I thought when I saw it in person! It looks so soft that I could shape it by hand but it's very sturdy and feels incredible in the hands. Does anyone...
