I suppose you could defocus the beam into a flashlight type effect and then have a simple cutout containing your "custom image"... but that probably isn't what you are looking for, and would only work for certain distances. Other than that, not sure... I would be interested in one if someone...

At powers this high, I would play it safe and buy from a trusted company... like already stated above, you get what you paid for.

This thread is confusing me... you were laughing at grix before he had ever said anything? if you were looking for a laser that has the same size dot at 30 feet as it does at 3 feet, you aren't going to find one. Just because some people responded to your request for a "green diode" as...

I was on youtube looking at some laser videos (i was bored:p) and I realized how amusing the comments section could be. For example, some inquiring person asks if this laser outputs IR ... Answered by "this thing doesn't need an ir filter its more uv than ir and ir is hot and uv is cold...

The only way I could think of (without using an lpm ofc) is checking to see if it can pop a dark colored balloon / make tiny marks in black plastic. If it can it is probably at least 30 mW, but then again this is a very rough estimate due to many factors that can affect burning ability like dot...

I believe the eye strain is because your eyes are attempting to 'focus in' on the dot, but at this wavelength it is very difficult. That, or it could be the fluorescence that is hitting your eyes, but should be safe because it is not collimated nor coherent. Either way, I think it shouldn't do...

I'm sorry if this has been answered before (I couldnt find it :yabbem:) or if this is a noob-ish question, but why gas lasers? I see low output (5 mW-30mW) gas lasers running up to 10-20x the price of their diode counterparts, not to mention the size needed for cooling / tube vs. a small...
