    Green ebay laser help.

Should be normal considering it is from Ebay. Being a laser of lower quality, the power first has a "peak" of around the advertised mW, then slowly dies down to "cat toy" brightness. I doubt there is anything you can do to fix it, next time buy one from a more trusted seller. It can still be...

Want to build a blu-ray laser..... couple questions here ??

The beam of a 20 mW green will be stronger than 200 mW of red. To me, it looks almost like the beam of a 5~10 mW. (but then again, this is my point of view... I've heard each individual experiences colors slightly differently.) So yes, you might see it but it will be faint.

    Red laser question

At what distances? My 5 mW green can be seen in broad daylight, except when it gets to around ~25 feet.

Welcome! Now I'll know where to look if I'm ever in the need of a green module :D

    My First Build :D

Nice host, great first build! Been trying to get myself to attempt one myself... not quite convinced I'm knowledgeable enough :cryyy:

    Do i need goggles??

All the answers above should be sufficient, but I'll try to emphasize it a bit. You DEFINETLY DO need goggles. DO NOT make your own. The ones linked above should work well.

    Red laser question

The dot probably will, but the beam won't.

Why the companies like Rayfoss and O-like has cheaper prices?

5000 hours? I doubt anyone has a Rayfoss / O-like / Optotronics laser that has been used that long. If I used my lasers for half an hour every day (on - time), it would take almost 30 years to reach that... If you do order an O-like or Rayfoss laser, I can't guarantee it will last 5000...

    Portable Grid laser

I'm assuming you want the beams to be visible, right? Probably the most cost effective would be green, which appears to be brightest to our eyes. Without the use of carefully placed mirrors, I'm not sure how this might be possible except with many lasers along two sides of the 5x5 area...

best burner for the buck (noob alert)

I would recommend New Style red laser 200mW /adjustable [OLNRL200] - $44.99 : O-Like, Quality Products, Great Prices At 200 mW, it can should be able to burn most dark colored things, meaning all the burning power for a very low price. It is also good quality and has been tested by many of the...

Why the companies like Rayfoss and O-like has cheaper prices?

I wouldn't quite say low quality, just not as high quality as the more expensive companies like Optotronics etc. Duty cycle has nothing to do with which company, just on the size of the heatsink. Like a Rayfoss torch at 100 mW is sure to have a longer duty cycle than an equal power Optotronics...

    Which laser should I buy?

Personally I would get the Rayfoss laser, much better host (in my opinion). I own the 50 mW version of that rayfoss, and it works perfectly. The whole process was extremely smooth, my emails received responses in less than an hour in some cases! The quality of Rayfoss is sure to be much better...

Lighting a match at 66 feet (about 20 meters)

Very nice, 66 feet is FAR! Sadly I don't have a laser with anywhere close to enough power to do any long - distance burning :cryyy:

    RF532-200mW-FMK(IR Filter) review-over 40 pics

Very nice, the laser seems a BIT big... :undecided: I think this is by far the longest review ever. Takes me almost 25 seconds to scroll all the way up.

    Favorite Hosts!

Didn't see an active thread concerning this so I figured I might open a new one. Post your favorite hosts (with pics of course!) so everyone can see! This can be based on looks, functionability (or however you say it) or a good mix of both. Thought it might be a good idea so anyone looking to...

    Combining lasers for different colors?

Make sure you keep in mind that certain wavelengths are brighter to the eye than others, not sure how different BR and red are. Although it mostly applies to green, I don't want you to end up having one color completely overpower the other :yabbem: Good Luck!
