Cylindrical correction optics for 445, 638

has anyone had any luck with designing and/or building an adjustable fixture for these lenses? I've had trouble setting mine up and dont have access to any milling or machining equipment.

I'm still waiting as well in round three.

Great, thanks for the update Dr. Lava! getting more and more excited about these each day in passing.

Black Beast® Military Grade Green Beam Laser Pointer

Never heard of that in my life before. Looks just like any other cheapie chinese green laser pointer.

was floating around here for a bit, got bored, went to reddit, and was sent back here lol.

oh Dr. Lava??? Come out come out where ever you are.

    Wicked Lasers Arctic Dissected

I am probably just going to run to my former universities machine shop and do a one-off of it. I am no longer a student and also I dont think they would like it if I were making money off of parts I sold made with their machines. Sorry :-/ I may mock up some 3D CAD models though if you'd like...

    Wicked Lasers Arctic Dissected

I suppose it could be done if you were able to apply enough heat to the internal battery spring in the butt-end of the host to the point that it melts the solder connecting it to the driver. But that will be difficult. There is a fairly thick metal disk (check the pictures) on the back end of...

I unfortunately wasn't able to get them apart either.

    Wicked Lasers Arctic Dissected

My apologies for getting defensive. I am as baffled as you are as to why this happened and I will try to elaborate more specifically the sequence of events which led up to the diode becoming fried. To answer your question. No, I did not power up the the PHR-803T diode with the 1A Arctic...

    Wicked Lasers Arctic Dissected

Unfortunately no I didn't. Thinking of it now I absolutely should have hooked up my dummy load and done that. I only got a direct voltage reading on it. It was hovering around 3.7

Why is hooking up a diode that dies at 150mA a bad idea then? It shouldnt matter to the least as long as the driver has been shorted, according to your own logic. Are you telling me that if I hooked a PHR to an unpowered shorted dr. lava boost driver designed for a 445nm diode that it would fry...

    Wicked Lasers Arctic Dissected

I don't know enough about the electronics to form a reasonable argument as to why shorting all the terminals didn't work. However I do know that I shorted them many times prior to to attaching any diodes, and that I have enough experience with my own builds to know what I was doing. I didn't...

    Wicked Lasers Arctic Dissected

No there was no issue with locating the caps, but they were 3 or 4 inches down into the host. I had no access to them because of all the wires jammed in there. I was trying to do this while everything was still in the laser. The components on the small driver was completely unreachable until I...

I shorted the positive and negative terminals for both the diode output and battery input multiple times. I assumed as much as you did in terms of shorting the caps, but it may be that we've never dealt with this type of driver.

They're iphone pictures. they're like 1.2mb a piece. I'll resize next time though.

    Wicked Lasers Arctic Dissected

Not sure how well this would work in terms of reverse engineering for each individual piece. The component tubes are all press fitted together. There is no way without some heavy duty hydraulic equipment that you'd be able to get it apart. It is however just sitting in a box now until the...

Really? I guess I can resize them and put them on as attachments.

    Wicked Lasers Arctic Dissected

This didnt start off as my original plan for this pointer upon receiving it. However it did play out as somewhat interesting. I received my Arctic a few days ago and have been using it on and off for the last few days. Never leaving it on for more than a minute or two. Well two nights ago I...
