I'd be happy if they'd just offer the DX200 for sale as a host (without the diode and driver) for about $15. These things make awesome hosts for those of us who like to build them ourselves with our own diodes and drivers.

I'm not really familiar with the insides of the MXDL, but I've considered doing this build with a rkcstr driver aswell. Since the rkcstr driver will be regulating the current, couldn't you just remove the old MXDL driver/LED assm completely and run the pos & neg wires directly from the rkcstr...
