    OMFG A 6W 445nm module for $23,500!?!?!?!!?

Somewhat off topic, but how would mode correcting optics work? Is it even possible to actually change the mode of a laser back to TEM00? All I know of is FAC, which still gives you a square shaped beam. I'd like to see how the Arctic works since they claim it puts out a TEM00 beam.

    ►CLOSED AMK GB◄ ~ SF-AW210 Diodes $10 Each

Re: ►AMK GB◄ ~ SF-AW210 Diodes $10 Each Perhaps it's time to send a reminder PM to those who haven't paid yet. I have a feeling many forgot over the 445nm craze. :P

    *445nm lasers* !GB-Closed!

Re: *445nm lasers* !arrays 550$ and diodes 35$! Before I make my payment, is shipping (within the US) included in the $35? Just wanted to make sure since the website says "+Applicable tax and shipping"

    *445nm lasers* !GB-Closed!

Re: *445nm lasers* !arrays 550$ and diodes 35$! I'm in for 1 diode, can pay as soon as you're ready. How much is shipping? I'm in the US, California. I'll be trying to order some goggles this week, and if I get the diode earlier than that, I don't expect to run it at high power.

    List of 445nm diodes

I recommend checking this out for a simple LPM. I don't know how well this would work with such a high power diode, but it's worth a shot, should only cost about $17 to build. http://laserpointerforums.com/f42/simple-laser-power-meter-using-ir-thermometer-26341.html

Just want to share my new cheap "5mW"

How is the stability of this laser? I bought two of these at $5.29 about a month or two ago, took about a month to ship from China, then both of them had about the worst stability possible. Right now only one of them survives, and it only works 20% of the time, and after a long warm-up. I...

    Modular PHR Build

Yup, simple as that. A 1/2" drill bit will work well, it's just a little loose for an Aixiz module.

    What does it take/cost ?

Perhaps something like this: Power LED's - simplest light with constant-current circuit It's very cheap if you buy the parts in bulk or build them from stuff you already have (and you can find most of the parts from old electronics like CRT monitors etc. too). I used this driver on all 3 of my...

    Modular PHR Build

Took your advice and went with a 14500, boosted the power up to about 107mW! (Again not sure how accurate my readings really are, I'm using the IR thermometer method) I guess the boost driver is either able to provide more current or produces a higher voltage, not quite sure what's going on...

    Modular PHR Build

I was only going to do this with the laser module removed, superglue doesn't cause problems once dry, right? I could do epoxy afterwards, superglue is just convenient to hold it in place first.

    Modular PHR Build

I forgot to measure the boost circuit, but I found this info on DealExtreme: "The spec that came with the board claims it has two types of outputs: when using an AA battery (voltage <= 1.5V), it steps up the voltage to 3.7V with 350mA current. When using a 14500 battery, it regulates output at...

    Modular PHR Build

Hello all, I just thought I'd post info about my project since I thought it was a bit unique and might be useful to others starting a project. Type: PHR-803T 405nm Current: ~90mA Output Power: 107mW (Measured with IR thermometer) Style: Flashlight Host, 14500 Battery Total Project Cost: ~$40...

445nm burning abilities for a project?

I am also quite interested in this idea. I started with a 1W IR diode a month or so ago, but the beam characteristics were pretty poor and there was a thread started about looking for corrective optics, and it just became more work than it was worth. Depending on how nice of a dot this laser can...

    ►CLOSED AMK GB◄ ~ SF-AW210 Diodes $10 Each

Re: ►AMK GB◄ ~ SF-AW210 Diodes $10 Each There's some data for both the BR and Red diode from the the second Google link from Laser Surplus Parts. Though I can't see any kinks (well except at the top, where it looks like it was nearly failing?) so I'm not really sure what current to run it from...

    445nm Laser Diode Compilation Thread

Re: 445nm Casio Laser Diode Compilation Thread That is an interesting device, a little less intuitive than the LM317 and other voltage regulators, since it uses a current output to set the voltage/current output? I thought LM317's or any other linear/LDO is being used as a current source all...

    445nm Laser Diode Compilation Thread

Re: 445nm Casio Laser Diode Compilation Thread Are there issues with heat with a linear/LDO regulator at such high currents? Especially if you're considering packing these drivers into an aixiz. I haven't gotten a chance to play around with switching converters, and it's too bad, I just put...

    My First IR Build

There may be a better way, but the way I did it was put the diode in a vise, and filed away at the bottom of the can with a half-round file. When it was thin enough/broken through mostly I pulled it off.
